Report: Toyota to produce FSC Concept

According to sources from WindingRoad, reports are circulating in Tokyo that Toyota maybe producing the FSC concept that was shown at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show.

Toyota describes the FSC as a new category crossover between a sedan and a minivan. Hmm, this is like what Mazda has, it tries to be a minivan and a station wagon, but what is it? Something in between I guess.

Not a fan of such models.

Don't give me that happy horse$h!t about when concept cars were introduced at an auto show.

The R-Class has been on the market for quite awhile and this Toyota concept has 4 doors just like the R-Class and therfore it's a copy.

Put some decent chrome wheels on the R-Class and you will have a great looking car.

This would work for Toyota with the right drivetrain but the wheels need to be chnaged to nicer-looking 5-spoke rims.

It's crazy to see these crossover/sport tourer type vehicles now. When the Pacifica debuted, it was met with such opposition. It has been a definite sin for DCX not to have paid more attention to the vehicle type that a lot of major makers are going to know. GM's Lambda family, Ford's Flex, Mazda CX-9, and Hyundia Veracruz represent evolutionary updates on what DaimlerChrysler started almost a decade ago. The crossover (read minivan near-look-a-like alternative) has unseated the minivan-staples as the most desireable vehicles in the US.

If I was ever to spend the 45k+ for a car it definitely would not be on the R Class. Not because its a crossover, just because its fugly.

And yea Mazda makes a similar crossover....thats what we call competition. In my opinion the FSC looks better than the Mazda CX-7, and when they put them head to head we will see who is the true winner.

The R Class shouldn't even be mentioned...once Diamler comes to their senses and realizes that the R-Class was as big as a mistake as acquiring Chrysler...they will drop it just like they did Chrysler.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
