Volkswagen Tiguan SUV: Official Images Without Camouflage

I like it! Looks good.

It looks OK - but how many of these 'cute utes' will people want? Mercedes is introducing one, Audi is introducing one, Land Rover has one and then their are the volume leaders the RAV-4 and the CRV.

I'd think there would be only a limited market for a small luxury SUV that has tight interior space, no cargo room, lousy gas mileage, an expensive price, and an uncomfortable ride.

As Acura can attest - all the people who wanted the above attributes in a tiny SUV have already bought a BMW X3. Many people I've spoken to who have an SUV are amazed at how impractical it is.

The Versa is a good little car except for the dreaded CVT and lack of leather as an option. A neighbor who recently moved had one for his wife and It is surprising how roomy the Versa is.

I saw this car in orange in the DC auto show last yr. hmm.

Cute. Thats all I can say about it really. My little sister would like it. It looks like it was built for her demographic, female, young, wants a truck but none of the truck like characteristics that come attached. It should fit right in with the other cute/utes already out there.

Remember small light Suv's get better gas mieage. I have a 2001 Rav 4 that gets close to 30 on the highway.It has more than enough room for 95% of my carrying needs.The new Rav 4 has gotten too big. In addition the rear window has gotten smaller. The Tiguan my be just the ticket for me. In addition it looks like it might come in a manual for the US. My 01 has a 5 speed but I can't get that in a new one.

Looks like the Japanese have some competition.

Somehow the concept Tiguan looks 10 times better than this!

Put some bigger tires and rims on it and it looks about identical.

Retarded design. It looked like the Tourage SUV's leftovers. No potential.

This Tiguan will start out with gas power for the U.S., however, soon it can be optioned with an all-new, CR 2.0 liter, four cylinder TDI (Diesel) that will comply with emissions standards for all fifty states.

The refinement of these newest diesels will make them indistinguishable from gas vehicles except for the superior torque; alternative-fuel capabilities; and the less frequent trips to fuel stations.

The TDI should get about 35 to 50 percent better fuel economy than the gasser; will achieve 140 hp and 236 lbs of torque; can use any blend of biodiesel with no loss in fuel economy as does ethanol-fueled vehicles; but lots of loss in CO2 output, hydrocarbon output, particulates of matter output, and petroleum input. Biodiesel only improves on a vehicle that will be already equal, or better, to the emission levels of gassers in every category, better in some categories, when running regular diesel fuel.

This will be a great diesel alternative for consumers that will rival any hybrid out there. This engine will not require the consumer ad urea solution as will soon be the case for V-6 and V-8 entrants. All the upcoming, four-cylinder diesels will achieve on-par status with gas-engine technologies without the need for an external fluid sources. VW will use this engine also for the '08 Jetta and '08 Jetta SportWagon in January. The Tiguan TDI will soon follow. VW may also announce diesel versions for the Rabbit and Beetle, but, so far, have not.

I'll take it with the 2 litre TDI.
