AMG and McLaren going head-to-head on mid-engined V8 supercar
Both Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division and McLaren are going head-to-head on mid-engined V8 supercars that are expected to hit the market in 2010 as rivals. As reported before, Mercedes-Benz is working on a Audi R8 rival, which is expectd to be called the Mercedes SLC. McLaren, on the other hand, is working on a F2 which is a follow up on the legendary F1.

AMG is getting a chance to prove to Mercedes that they are better than McLaren and are working with another Mercedes division, HWA AG. So far we’ve learned that the Mercedes SLC will be powered by a 6.2 liter AMG V8 engine producing 500 horsepower. If necessary Mercedse may even add a twin-turbo variant developing 700 horsepower.

The Mercedes SLC is expected to be more compact and lighter than the McLaren SLR and could use parts from the upcoming SL AMG Black Series.

The F2 will own the SLC but the price tag might be the issue.

considering the Old F1 still beats 95% of all never cars out there, im sure its gonna kick ass :]
