Agreed. Especially since opinions on recent BMW designs are so divided!

gsh23, if you've read a recent article about apple's new iphone..you do realize they might be getting sued by LG electronics fro Korea right? The design of iphone is almost identical to the LG phone which was unveiled earlier than that of iphone. I forgot exactly which magazine had this article..Time, U.S. news..something like that...anyhow it just shows you how everyone is either copying or getting ideas from others and calling it their inventions. I believe Steve Jobs has done remarkably well and he should be nominated as an CEO for Chrysler.

I hate and love his cars.. it's so confusing. I love the X5, I hate the Siebener, I love the Dreier Coupe, I hate the Fünfer,...

I will say in defense of the seven that the new more subtle headlights are such a significant improvement that it makes the older one look even worse from the front.

It really does make you wonder if the inspiration for the fist generation was the Giant Cane Toad.

I must say that Bangle never really hit the nail for me, but most of their cars really do look pretty good on the street. Alltime bmw classics still are 3.0 , 635 CSI, 850 CSI & E46 M3 CSL though, none of them from the bangle boys...

Looks like we have a bunch of blind BMW fanboys. Bangle has bungled BMW designs, all of them are ugly compared to their predecessors. The 7 is just flat out ugly.

The Bangle butt and iDrive are a deal-breaker for me. Bangle failed to integrate proper rubber side strips to prevent door dings in parking lots.

rubber side strips are so 90's. plus, they dont really work in SUV filled parking lots.

so the design community are 'blind BMW fanboys?' this is not an automotive award, but a design award that cuts across categories.

get over your sour grapes.

You cant say blind BMW fanboys because styling and design is subjective. There is nothing wrong with the new designs from BMW, or do you want them to look like their home in the 90's?

Also remember BMW sales doubled over the last period, and dont say its the badge because its not, otherwise why didnt BMW do so well in the past?

I know so many people hate the 5 series, but when it came it out it was the best looking car IMO and I bought an M5 because of that. Its called thinking out side of the box, something that I dont see other car makers doing. Not to mention BMW design cues are seen on every new car...

BMW obviously made the right decision to modify their styling at the turn of the millenium and its only the morons who are stuck in the past [car reviewing dopes] and dee dee dees who dont understand anything who complain about the looks of the cars. as anyone can see most car companies took the forward looking design elements bangle and his group implemented and applied the to their model lines. the least talented designers clearly botched the job but BMW is to be commended for their design vision. too bad the cars arent more sublime electronics wise.

Bangle's designs... Love it or hate it, but everyone must admit that its successful.

Lots of other companies are using it to their advantage.

Right on BMW....I belive the best is yet to come from Chris Bangle and his Design Team. From the looks of their concept car the next 5 series and the next 6 series they will most likely win the award over the next several year.
