Diesel Efficiency Likely to Trump Even Subsidized Ethanol

Evidence continues to mount that car manufacturers are barking up the wrong tree with their push to convince motorists that ethanol-powered cars are a great way to pursue a green agenda.

Claims by car makers here in Europe like Saab, Ford and Volvo, that burning a so-called renewable fuel like ethanol, made from corn or sugar derivatives, cuts green house gas emissions by up to 80 percent, have been called into question.

In order for the U.S. to run on ethanol you would need crop land larger than New England just for planting alone. Ethanol is NOT the answer

Diesel fuel contains 30% more energy per gallon than gasoline and it's priced similar to gasoline.
What a bargain!

Sugar cane ethanol and not corn ethanol is the way to go. Diesel trumps all. It takes almost as much energy to produce corn ethanol as what you get out of it. I'm sure we can find more profitable crops for farmers to exploit than corn for ethanol.
