Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Sales of 19,589 Vehicles, a 6 Percent Decrease for June 2007

Chrysler Group, consisting of the Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 183,347 vehicles in the U.S., a 1 percent decline in June. Spurred by the "Maximize Your Miles" ad campaign which highlights the fuel efficiency of its new cars and small SUVs; Chrysler Group combined car sales increased 55 percent for the month. In addition, led by the sales momentum of the Jeep Wrangler, total Jeep brand sales rose 19 percent in June. Following its most aggressive product launch in company history of 10 all-new vehicles in 2006, Chrysler Group continues its product offensive with the launch of eight all-new vehicles in 2007.

MBUSA's sales highlights for the month include gains from the entry-level of the Mercedes portfolio, the C-Class, to its high-end CL-Class. Compared to June of last year, C-Class sedans posted a 12 percent increase (4,776 vs. 4,250 units), and CL-Class coupes recorded a 322 percent jump (266 vs. 63 units). Year-to-date, MBUSA recorded its best first-half of the year ever with 118,240 units sold in the first six months of the year, a 3 percent increase over the same period last year.

Mercedes Benez?

The German company decided to make both parts of their name Spanish now?

Mercedes, like other "luxury" makes, is faced with the problem of luxury features having trickled down to cheaper cars at the same time as other things are competing to get a pieces of the consumer's scarce financial resources. The only way to overcome that is by offering true extra value in the form of far superior materials, fasteners and workmanship to fully justify the incremental price difference. Vague Marketing BS does not cut it any more.

Don't forget that Audi is also in the market as well. They are the most understated luxury cars but they offer great quality.

Mercedes you get great luxury and lots of flash to go with it. BMW incorporates luxury with sport. Audi is similar but with better interior designs as well as better feeling materials. Lexus does well in comfort and luxury technology but it differs from those of the Germans. It's Japanese luxury at its best. We fued about Lexus VS Germany but what it boils down to isn't luxury difference it's more of Japanese or European luxury. Whichever floats your boat then buy it. They all do a great job as luxury cars. In the end you ask yourself can you really go wrong owning any 3 series, c-class, A4, IS? not really. They are all great cars just different styling and it gives everyone different vibes. Personal preference.

Also don't forget that the 3 series is not a cheap car. Most people can't even afford a car let alone owning a 3 series. In Canada the 328i/335 convertible's can reach prices of 70-80K

I think the people who buy S-Class have turned to BMW 7's or A8's. And some who have liked both MB and Lexus may have purchased the new LS. Lets face it. 100K + you better be getting something good.
