Since Toyota buys components from America, wouldn't the profits go to American suppliers??

E.g. the Chevy Equinox gets its engine from Mexico while the Toyota Sienna's engine is from America. So when the profits flow down to the suppliers of components, Americans make more if you buy the Toyota.

It's funny how toyoyoyota states clearly they provide that many jobs and use those many parts, which is good for US and it's people. It's like telling your 5 years old that eating vegetables is good .. It works to the best of the kid, but seems stupid to say the same thing to a grown up. Hey, I guess they have to be like that, they have to buy loyalty here, at least for trucks.

Toyota has three products that come up on the "most American" list -- the Camry, the Sienna, and the Tundra.

Toyota may use american made parts, but Toyota provides only a fraction of the jobs that the Domestic manufacturers (Ford, GM, Dodge) provide in the US.

That may be true today, but it may not be in 5 or 10 years. The fact that Toyota is committed to developing and manufacturing cars in the U.S., despite the higher costs, is proof that Toyota is more interested in our success than Daimler-Chrysler, who is announcing massive layoffs every year.

Toyota is making a 'low cost country' out of the united states. They make suckers out of each and every camry / lexus driving lemming. It seems most of the new americans are buying these cars - since they have no loyalty at all.

Yes, this is because someone in Australia can buy shares in Toyota and literally be an owner of the company. Unless you know the exact breakdown of the nationality of Toyota shareholders then you can't really know what the "nationality" of Toyota is.

In the end it only matters that the US is getting business.. where the profit goes makes no difference. You know where the profit goes when it goes back to japan? Right back to the US! With all the expansions in the US by Toyota, they are the ones investing in us while ford, dodge and chevrolet are cutting jobs. In the end, who makes the US’ economy better? You tell me!

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
