LOTUS EXIGE S COMPARED TO THE $135,000 CLK BLACK SERIES
When edmunds compared the clk to the m6 i seemed to be the only person that thought it was an odd match up, and that the clk ( c class based coupe) was not a car par with the m6, and would be extremely overpriced. but comeon $135,000 for this car is outrageous thats more than 911 turbo or GT3, an m6 and a 328i together, almost 2 zo6 corvettes, the list goes on. sure this car is fast but 135,000 for a 2 door c class is outrageous...what do you guys think

I personally would never buy 1, but you know MB pricing....

That is crazy money for a clk. The Audi R8 is a far superior car for less money, or the BMW M6, or the Porsche 911 turbo, SL55 amg... Mercedes must be high on something

You obviously have not read the Edmunds comparison. The CLK AMG Black Series totally beat the BMW M6 in HANDLING and performance. There's nothing outdated about this car. The regular CLK needs a redesign, but this car has been finetuned and perfected for performance driving.

This pair-up makes far less sense... These cars are absolutely nothing alike other than having 2 doors and 4 wheels. That being said... I like the black series but the price is outrageous. I'll take another Exige for that money.

But no car mentioned here is/will be as exclusive as CLK Black Edition.

And as M53R said we know MB pricing and over that it's a special/limited edition model.

Question: Is the CLK really a C-class based coupe? I always thought it was based closer to the E-Class, and thus would be pitted against the 6-series (like 5 vs. E). Didn't MB have a C-Class coupe already (the small little sporty thing) at the same time as the CLK?

Technically, a CLK isn't related to a C-class. They may share common letters in the names, but they aren't really the same. The CLK is supposed to be a coupe version of an E-class model I think. Also, it would be really wierd if they named the car "ELK" - so they named it something different. Yes, this Black Series car is intended to be exclusive, unlike the M6 or R8, so therefore, you pay money for the performance, name, and being one of the few hundred in the world to have this car.

sorry your wrong there, the clk is nothing more than a c class coupe that is priced on par with the e class, in fact the clk costs less money to build than the c class sedan that its based on, which is why the amg clk's dont have the amg e class engines but the c class amg engine. the dashes are the same as well.....now no c class is worth 135,000 no matter what it has on it or how exclusive

For that kind of money, you can get a normally aspirated Porsche 911 GT3, which is faster and more nimble.
