Preview Drive: 2008 Saturn Astra
The current Astra will be a two-year proposition. Built in several GM plants around the world, the Astra will be redesigned for 2010, presumably with a Saturn version as part of the plan from the get-go. That's a positive situation, as the next-gen Astra is starting from a good place already and any needs deemed important to the U.S. market can be incorporated into the development process. In spite of the fact that the 2008-2009 Astra really is no more than a rebadged Opel-and by the time it gets here, a four-year-old one at that-it's a worthy package and a galaxy or two ahead of the car it'll replace. Even as such, it's still a smart and low-risk, if not entirely original, move on GM's part...

If a 2008 Astra is four years old, that means it's as old or older than the Mazda 3 which debuted as a 2005 model.
