How is it going to compete with the IS-F, or less even the C63?

yeah Lexus is rebuilding their engine right now cause C63 AMG came out with 450 HP.. now Lexus has to build something better and faster yet they gonna be cheaper cause if its the same price, no one's gonna buy it.

that wasn't a bad review, they basically just said it wasn't as "edgy" as the old one. Neither is the RS4, and I'm sure the IS-F and C63 won't be either.

How bad is bad?

"the steering never scores more than six out of 10 no matter where or how you drive the car. Nor do the brakes, which suffered from fade on the road and went away badly on the track. Or the fuel consumption, which was regularly down in the mid-teens on roads on which the old car would have hit well over 20mpg."

SupraNeverBack, you made a nice point and mark my word, when the M3 will be compared against the IS-F, magically its numbers will change, it will score 9 out of 10 and they'll give the IS-F the 6.
That's why I don't take any of these test results seriously, I take the results that real people have had with their cars and with those guys, Lexus is ALWAYS the winner!

I'm surprised they didnt like it.. bring it to me and I'll do the review! Also, bring the C63 AMG to me plz.

First, Evo & STi could outhandle all the above.

Second, the M3 has been proved to be the loser, just compared to C63, not to mention the IS-F. ^0^

Fuel Consumption? I'm glad that the rags are hammering the car makes for making fuel hogs.

Mid-teens MPG in UK means low-teens US MPG.

Oh dear.. this is '92 all over again. Please BMW don't say it's true!

I really want to drive the new M3 before I take my conslusions..

After reading it again and again I can only conclude how good it actually is. It's just not the same as the old E46. And that's a pity.

the problem here lies with the fact that the e46 m3 possessed incredible performance at a relatively cheap price around $50k while the e93 m3 now seems to possess unextraordinary performance at a estimated high cost at around $65k?

Nop, the problem is that is not performing up to the challenge: Audi RS4, MB AMG C63, even Lexus ISF. You do not expect that from BMW. And for the records: it is a suprise for every body.

Here is another very dissapointing review by AUTOCAR which follows the dissapointing review from CAR.

The M3 has deviated from its nimble, rapid, involving and invigorating E46 version to a now bulkier, less nimble, marginally faster (4.8 seconds to 60 mph is actually slow for this class considering the official time of the C63 AMG is 4.5 and the RS4 also at 4.8) The M3 won't be winning any stop-light wars in its new E92 V-8 form.

Where the old M3 displayed balance, stopping power and feedback that the rivals could only dream of achieving, this M3 was supposed to only create an even better driving experience.

Unfortunately, what we have is an M3 that feels larger than it should, has weaker brakes than it should, slower acceleration than it should and most importantly not enough feedback.

When the 335i came out with its twin-turbo six featuring 300 horsepower and 300 lb/ft. of torque BMW clearly zoomed past its rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz and created a true affordable king of coupes with class leading performance and driving dynamics.

The stage was set for the E92 M3 to step into the high-performance arena with teh RS4 and newly released C63 AMG and do to them what the 335i did to the C-class, A4 and G35.

Unfortunately, BMW made the 335i too great of a car that left the public salivating at what the M3 would achieve and quite frankly, BMW clearly has not delivered its promise on the M3.

My advice: buy a 335i with manual transmission and M-sport package + an LSD.

Or wait for the CSL.

you guys have to be incredibly gullable for one, this isnt even a real test they put the 0-60 times that bmw posted, second its not even a page long, what REAL review any car from a dodge caravan to something as anticipated as the new M3 is this short....while the m3's through the years have become less and less hard edged im sure the new one will perform on par with the old one but will be more of high performance gt fitting its price than just an evo type version of the 3 series...realistically if the 335i and 328i have excellent handling and braking why wouldnt the performance variant the M3....yeah thats realistic and people are taking this as the be all end all review......i have swamp land that im looking to sell for $100,000 an acre im sure the people here will jump on that...lmao

If you want edgy then get the IS-F, but your chick will hate it!

Who actually buys these cars and then complains about fuel economy? If you want fuel economy, get a Geo Metro for crying out loud. I highly doubt that anyone in this class of car actually looks at fuel economy. They look at the performance first, then perhaps the ride quality (comfort, handling etc.) and other important aspects. Fuel economy? Not even on the checklist.

I ll judge when the comparos come out.
