2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The roadster formerly known as the Miata returns to the 10Best winners' circle for the second straight year, its eighth trophy since Mazda modernized the concept of the affordable droptop sports car in 1990. The Miata (Mazda still uses the name unofficially) made its latest 10Best comeback last year with a top-to-bottom redesign, the car's first complete makeover. It has a new unibody, new skin, a new interior, a new powertrain — new everything.

this isnt a bad car, despite its looks, it drives very well, and very suitable for autocross too. its pretty reliabile and my friends who owns one loves it.

I don't know if you have it in the US but in the UK we have a phrase "Hairdresser's car", ie 318i convertibles, Z3, old TT, StreetKa etc.

But the MX-5 has been the king (queen?) of the hairdressers' cars for about 15 years now. It is a gay/girly car no matter which way you look at it.

The Boxster is also a Hairdresser's car.

Very interesting, i didn't know the car was viewed that way in the UK. Matter of fact i didn't know that gay people are fond of it either, my wife and i both like the little car, i guess that means we better both drive together if we get one???

"Hairdresser's car" is a good one!

Dont get me wrong, i really like the car. But will never buy one because of gay/girly look.

The same thing goes for the other roadsters (BMW, Audi, Honda, Mercedes...)

Those cars tells everybody "Look at me im cute".

So-Is there a roadster out their that isn't "a gay car" or a "girls car" that is affordable?I'm guessing you would then have to go to the specialist market and look at a Caterham Super Seven.I like the series 4 Alfa Spider but that could also be called Gay or a girl's car.So really "ALL" affordable convertables can have the "cache".So the bottom line is if you like a particular convertable you just have go on that this is "total bullshit!"and go out and enjoy what you want, including the MX5.One among many positives is you can hear the exhaust that much better.

I think the rule is if it's got 6 cylinders, it's not a girls car.
ie 325/330/335i not a girls car
Z4 2.5/3/0 not a girls car
etc etc.
oh and classic convertibles are never girly.
