GM's Check Engine Light Is Flashing Once Again

Nine months ago Jerry York, billionaire Kirk Kerkorian's flamethrower-in-chief, quit General Motors Corp.'s board and expressed "grave reservations" about the staying power of its North American turnaround.

After the crappy June GM delivered -- sales plunged 21.3 percent for a year-to-date market share of 23 percent and an all-time low of 22.3 percent in June -- could ol' Jerry have been more on target than the General's management cares to admit, thanks to fewer incentives, $3-a-gallon gas and its impact on the sales of trucks and SUVs?

"I have grave reservations concerning the ability of the company's current business model to successfully compete in the marketplace with those of the Asian producers," York wrote in his resignation letter last October to George Fisher, GM's top outside director.

I like how nowhere in the article is it mentioned that GM has intentionally cut fleet sales. And as for the politicians in congress.....just what we need. More un-informed technically backwards morons with great ideas.

Here's an idea for congress, why don't they implement the metric system or improve the education system to be directed at math/science.

Also, I want to see sales figures in a few months when GM's hybrids are out and new models are out.

I remember in 2005 people were all ready to put the nails in GM's coffin, and now they've been proven wrong.

Wait, but I thought GM suppose to make a huge come back, and outside everyone? I guess not ha....Seriously, the market is not in the 60s, 70s or 80s, it the year 2007.

GM, you have more competitor nowdays, they offer better styling, realibility, comfort and quality than GM products.

This is just another bash American car company story. GM is doing a lot better and anybody with an ounce of common since knows it. Of coarse they still have a ways to go and not every month is going to be a great month but GM is doing very well. There product is the best it’s ever looked and the fuel economy on them is getting better as well. GM will continue to get stronger even though they will have to defend themselves constantly from socialists pigs who do not want to see American companies do well.
