Fiat has big plans regarding its new 500

After the big launch of its new model, Fiat is planning to release 2 new versions of the Fiat 500: a three-door station wagon and/or a 4WD SUV.The decision to approve the production of the new versions will be taken at the end of this year, after Fiat will analyse the sales of the new Fiat 500.

This is a tall order. The big question is: how does the 500 drive? Is handling similar to the Mini, power, economy? If it gets good results of these three points than I'd say the Mini might have a valid competitor.

If they build enough and supply the dealer and don't get so arrogant about it they may have something Mini(bmw) needs someone to standup to them when it comes to this size market.
