Did I hear FORD ?

Buy them for cheap, scrap Mercury, Lincoln, even more: FoMoCo US (not that anyone would notice). Send Euro Fords to US, make Volvo a volume semi-premium brand like Acura, off we go, just made a billion here and there, all of a sudden we're starting to make money. Takes about 5 weeks.

When Mercedes took on acquisitions, their products started to suffer in certain aspects. My question is what in the name of Mother Earth can happen to BMW's products that could make them any worse than what they already are? ;)

Everyone always thinks of brand names when talking about acquisitions.

BMW could very well instead by service and dealership networks, underused US factories, or even parts contracts.

The reason that the Daimler deal didn't work so well is largely due to macroeconomics, not because of Daimler mismanagement. While the Chrysler division suddenly started to release Uglymobiles after the merger, the Dollar/Euro exchange rate swung about 20% in the wrong direction. European manufacturers therefore are fighting very hard to maintain profitability in North America, and to be honest, only Porsche is succeeding right now. If and only if the exchange rate swings back would a European manufacturer want to even consider buying a brand. I encourage them to buy up what's left of the US rust belt, though. There are plenty of empty factories for sale thanks to a certain federal administration that prioritizes foreign war over domestic health.
