F1 won't return to Indianapolis in 2008

I hate NASCAR. How can people enjoy guys named "Billy Bob" and "Earl" driving around in ovals?

I think part of the problem, other than money of course, is that the only US driver is Scott Speed and with his current car, he couldn't buy a point...Heck, I'd take a race finish from him at this point.

I feel that your comment is misguided. I wonder if you've ever been to Malaysia or Bahrain. The track at Bahrain is beautiful and I highly doubt that the track itself breeds fundAmentalist terrorists. This issue is regarding circuit owner Tony George and F1 commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone failure to agree on the fee for the race. Nothing to do with terrorists. This trigger-happy-blame-everything-on-terrorists attitude of yours is in line with the current administration's and has just about been proven to be ridiculously flawed.

I am a Malaysian studying here in the US and frankly, your comment is uncalled for and offensive. A cesspool? Have you actually been to Malaysia? Attitude like that is what breeds anger and hatred. Fortunately, most Americans I've met are quite a bit more civilized and enlightened than you are my good sir.

F^%k Ecclestone and George!

This is a sad day for US motorsports. It was an absolute privilage to be able to host an F1 race at Indy. The drivers liked it, the fans loved it and it was a very special venue to say the least. I think I speak for all US F1 fans in saying the US Grand Prix will be a sorely missed in the motorsports calendar next year. Even if they decided to move the race to a different venue, there is no place like Indy. It is a special and historic place with the only facilities available that meet FIA standards.

I'm not sure who is to blame here but I guess we will all find out eventually. We all know that Bernie can be a little greedy and Tony can be a little stubborn sometimes.

I've been to the Indy F1 race twice (not this year, though). Great fun, even when only 6 cars ran due to Michelin's screw-up. Michael Schumaker won both races, an amazing driver.
I believe the F1 organization wanted the Indy organization to cough up $15 million for the rights to have the race. With only 80,000 to 100,000 tickets sold I guess Tony George felt they wouldn't make enough profit.
The truth of the matter is that F1 is just not big enough in the U.S. compared to the rest of the world. Also some of the F1 drivers made fun of the Indy circuit; the road course part was kind of Mickey Mouse to put it bluntly.
The Mid-Ohio road course would be perfect, but it ain't going to happen there. Maybe Las Vegas or Lime Rock would be great.
Unfortunately, the F1 organization is kind of greedy and if they can get the $$$s in Europe or Asia, then their feeling is screw the U.S. fans.

When they had US EAST and US WEST, it was during the days that US drivers actually had a chance, and there were US makes. Now with no US makes, I don't think it is attracting people as much.

The racing I want to see more of is WRC. Now THAT is racing.

Chances are MotoGP will be racing at IMS as early as next year. Dorna, the officiating body of MotoGP, has been in talks with several venues to stage a second USGP event, which includes Barber Motorsports Park.

i dont care. i will only watch ALMS, maybe WRC but lately has been pretty boring.
