2009 Jeep JT Concept

In the five years of Chrysler’s Mopar skunkworks program, where designers are given carte
blanche with existing production vehicles, the biggest idea to make it into mainstream production is the Sky Slider full-length retractable canvas roof on the new 2008 Jeep Liberty. It hailed from the Liberator skunkworks project from almost three years ago...

This is a must build for Jeep. With the popularity of pick-ups in this country one thing that is missing is unique compact trucks. All of the current compacts, save the long in the tooth Ranger, have migrated to ther midsize catagory.

This vehicle, if priced reasonbly, could be a cult classic.

As a consumer, I'd like the new owners of Chrysler to sell the Jeep Division to GM and GM bring back the aluminum-bodied H1 Hummer (without the geared hubs) and abandon the H2 and H3.

I would personally buy the Jeep concept truck mentioned in the article but I know my wife would throw a tantrum.

What is wrong with the portal axles? This is why the H-2 and H--3 suck!Because they don't have them. I love the added ground clearance that portal axles give.

If this ever comes to market , it will be the only off road worthy truck produced! I think it would benifit from a shorter hood because it is a poor use of space. Also a 4 door version. I would love to see Honda buy Jeep to improve quality but you would have to have the Jeep guys not allow it to turn into a pansy truck like the Ridgeline. Why can't Jeep improve quality? This concept is long overdue!

There are many off-road worthy trucks produced, but there are many different types of off-road driving. This truck looks to have great off-road credentials but so does the Dodge Powerwagon and the Toyota Tacoma just to name a couple.

Johnct, You are right the the Dodge power wagon is another truck worthy of off road bragging rights, but the Toyota Tacoma in stock form doesn't cut it! Although if I were going to get a midsize truck there are no other trucks as good as the Toy, it is just poorly engeneered for off road use, then again it is still the best of the midsize but this jeep is miles ahead of the Tacoma when it comes to being built for off roading. If I were loaded $$ I would love to have the Defender 90 or a Unimog. Anything worthy of off road is top dallar exept this jeep would still be reasonable.
