Are Honda and Toyota Attempting To Dump Cars On The Market?

Honda and Toyota both bumped up their June incentives in a major way, according to a new article in Automotive News. Year-over-year, Honda’s incentives jumped by 73.2 percent to an all-time high, and Toyota’s increased by 53.6 percent. That stands in contrast to the industry average, which actually dipped by some 7.3 percent versus a year ago.

Critically, however, even with that new jump, Honda’s incentives totaled an average of $1221 per vehicle, and Toyota’s moved to $1567. Despite big jumps, both companies remain well shy of the industry average of $2422.

No way -- we should support our domestic industry and not our economic adversaries. The way I see it, only GM is a serious contender among the domestics with fantastic new products and much improved quality these days. i don't mind a price war as it helps me the consumer. I wish GM would start selling vehicles over the Internet at close to dealer cost, reserving only a small commission to a consumer-designated delivering dealer. With all prices as low as possible and full price disclosure with no pricing gimmicks, consumers would be happy to deal almost excluively with the domestics.

The industry has been its own worst enemy with lack of full disclosure and too many gimmicky marketing schemes, crooked dealers, ignorant or untrained car salesmen and bad option packages.

FYI, ignorance means a lack of knowledge, for example stating something as fact that isn't. I simply said that I don't like the Big 3 and that I wish misfortune upon them.

No, I don't belong to any one "camp", be it Lexus or any other make. There's lot of great cars out there, but very few from Detroit.

Wish misfortune upon the big three at your own peril. If the US loses its auto industry the entire country will suffer. I am not going to defend the mistakes of the big three's past, but hoping for there iminent demise isn't very good for our country.

This just proves statement from a few weeks ago that Toyota has more incenitives than Honda that's why they sell more, I just don't bother looking up thhe facts
