BREAKING Spy Shots: Volkswagen’s four-door coupe
While WindingRoad is labeling the car pictured above as the next Volkswagen Phaeton Coupe, we are going to take a chance and say that it’s actually the Volkswagen four-door coupe, or the poor man’s Audi A5.

Why do we think that this is the large four-door coupe and not the next-generation Phaeton? Well, as previously reported, the Volkswagen Phaeton is going to get its first major overhaul in 2010 and is reported to lose some weight, becoming a bit smaller and a little more agile than its predecessor.

Not the Passat Coupe, the Passat Coupe will be a four door coupe, like the MB CSL. You can clearly see that this (whatever it is) looks like a two door coupe.

It says it is not a coupe... looks like one to me. Maybe in the fashion of the RX-8 with suicide rear doors. But a true four door? I don't see it.

as phaeton is just a reskinned version of A8.

I don't know which marketing idiot first coined the phrase "4-door coupe". As far as I'm concerned, the word "coupe" should be reserved for something with 2 doors. If it has 4 doors, then it's a 4-door sedan even if the styling is similar to current trends in coupe styles. Most small coupes have little or no legroom for rear passengers so why not bring back the "business coupe" with no rear seats and lots of trunk space that extends into what would have otherwise been a useless rear seat area,

They won't do that because it is cheaper to insure a car that has rear seats than not...
