Latest 7-series refresh photos
Here are the latest
Note how they've toned down the trunk to look almost spoiler-like.

Is it just me or does the first picture not look any different from a standard 7-series? The second looks somewhat like the "spoiler-like". In either case, the trunk cut line still breaks that character contour from the front of the profile and it's still a mess...

If you put makeup on a pig, it's still a pig.

I have a 2003 745li,from day 1 I thought it was beautiful. It drives amazing,It looks refreshingly gorgeous, the Idrive is not a problem,as a matter of fact I think it ads excitement to the car.the only car that comes close to make my heartbeat like the 7 is the Bentley continental GT,but for the price I can have a loaded 7 and a turbo porsche cabriolet.

Makeup on a corpse! They should accept that the trunks on the new cars (5-series as well) are stone ugly and do what is necessary to replace them. Nothing less will do. The head light fairings need work too, but the rear of the car is stone awful and needs more than a bit of this-and-that to make it acceptable.
The strip of LEDs on the trunk lid should go. It lacks any pretense of integration into the rest of the design. It appears to be there because LEDs were new and they wanted to use them for that reason alone.
In short, the design of the Bangle BMWs was a disaster and BMW should admit it and move on rather than trying to have it both ways.

Still looks clumsy overall. The rear "spoiler" is an improvement but the car still doesn't please the eye. The trunk lateral cut line is much too prominent in side views.

If money was spent in retouching the rear design it shows that Bangle-BMW are consistent in wasting resources. The design is not only faulty in the rear Chris. The car looks FAT, bloated, the front headlights are plain ugly with the inverted format, the interior is ugly. Nothing short of major is needed here. What part of U-G-L-Y don't you understand?
My suggestion, go ahead with this redesign. I would not but it in the first place. I'll stick with Audi and MB which have incredibly styly new designs coming up .. the new TT, A6 "Nouvolari" Coupe, Pikes Peak, CLS. I will be transitioning my current 2.7T to one or two of these.
Bangle, you want nice interiors, you'll have to FOLLOW Audi ... which, clearly you can't. Sadly, you've decided to follow the Japanese or Korean.
