2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si set for October launch in U.S.

Honda has revealed the details of the upcoming Civic Mugen Si Sedan, the closest that we North Americans are going to get to a Civic Type R. First seen at the 2006 SEMA Show, the Mugen Si sports a unique Fuji Blue Pearl color, a suspension tuned on Japan's Twin Ring Motegi Course, and an aerodynamic body kit consisting of a new grille, rear spoiler, side skits, and rear diffuser.

As a result of the track testing, the suspension has been lowered by 0.6 inches, with front and rear damping force increased by 8 and 24 percent, respectively. To further improve handling, Honda fitted the Mugen Si with lightweight 18-inch wheels that are 27 percent lighter than the 17-inchers on a standard Si and fitted them with a set of high-performance BF Goodrich g-Force tires.

Only 1,000 cars will be available for the 2008 model year, with pricing expected to come in right around...

I wouldn't call the "2006 Motor Trend Car Of The Year" a shitvic, I havn't seen anything in its class top it yet. The only problem I have is how can they justify selling it for 30k with the same power for that money I would buy a TSX.

the entire package at an increase of $7 to $8k is not worth it imo.

The Si is a respectable car in its class . The problem with the Mugen and the limited production is that a dealership markup and premium price is paid when so many aftermarket tuners can produce better for less .

In fact with tuner HP and suspension upgrades --I don't just say this about Honda . It applies to every manufacturer who who believes that their special edition "tuner" car is somehow elite.

So Honda wants to make Mugens which begs the question --have they visited youtube and looked at some of the aftermarket Civic Si cars?
