Lexus Manager Forecasts Plans For An IS Coupe!

While we were taking a second look at the official press release on the Australian market only IS 250X (see here), we boringly sat down and read Lexus Australia divisional manager, John Roca’s comments on the specific version. Thank God we did cause to our surprise, Mr Roca had something quite interesting to say about Lexus’ future plans on the IS line-up. Here’s the contentious part from Mr Roca’s quotes:

“We are very excited about some of the upcoming developments for the IS Line, including the V8-powered IS-F and potentially, an IS coupe in the future”

Despite the rumors, up until now, Lexus had remained tight-lipped on the possibility of the introduction of an IS Coupe. But should we take Mr Roca’s words for granted? In our opinion, that’s a crystal-clear yes as due to his position, Mr Roca has definitely been officially informed about Lexus’ future model line-up

The LF-S looks to be more like what the IS coupe would resemble. LF-C looks more like an SC.

The LF-S should have been basis for the IS-f, IMO.

All these car id's...I'm getting confused.

I looked at the IS but wrote it off because it has a small trunk and AWD is only available on the 250 and RWD with LSD is only available on the 350 Sport model. The IS has superbly comfortable seats however but some overly oriental-looking trim elements at the center console. The Audi A6 and 2008 Mercedes C-Class would be better buys at only little more money for comparatively equipped cars.

We'll assume you mean the Audi A4 and not the A6? The IS is a very small car, and it drives like one too, for it's very nimble. "Overly-oriental" just screams subjective here. The new C-Class is no step up over the IS interior-wise.

If the Lexus IS coupe look like that photoshop coupe posted up here last year, it be really sweet. It will easily be the best looking coupe in it class for sure.

Well, im a lexus fan and all and i want to see that coupe just as much. but...they are just starting to expand. 5 years ago, there was just the IS300. Now, there is the IS250, IS250 awd, IS350. Its going to take a while for perhaps more plant space to open up, and perhaps keep quality up there while they are expanding.

I think Lexus are focusing on IS-F and LF-A now. IS hard-top amd SC hard-top possibly will be developed together.

I agree that the IS Coupe should get a more distinctive exterior than just an IS sedan with two-less doors. Kind of like how the 3-Coupe is different from its less-than-inspiring sedan brethren.

The LF-C concept looks great. Somewhat SC-ish, but it looks too much like a sport coupe than a roadster. It would be a nice A5 competitor as well if they offered AWD on it, which they most likely wont.

It's funny... when the Lexus beats the BMW by a half a second in the 0-60 they say Lexus "accelerated better" but when the BMW (with twin turbos) beat the Lexus by the same margin they say it "blew the IS350 away!" Talk about biased writing...

Well at the rate they're going it seems this car won't see see the light of day till at least 4 years into the current IS's production. They'll be gearing up after 6-7 years to release a next-generation IS.
