The U.S. is to get Europe’s Ford Focus in 2011

YEA!!! wow....that's right around the corner(sarcasm). All these years of waiting just to produce ONE Euro Ford.

wow, bold move! but another 4 yrs?

Ford should higher some European designers to help improve upon what we already have. Even one little European styling or performance addition, would make a huge difference on the extremely bland lineup.

Heck yea....Ford sure could use a RWD performance sedan in the line up; we need some Australian FPVs.

Undoubtedly the U.S. version will still differ from the Euro one. Maybe not in design, thank goodness, but they'll swap out the materials to the same ol' crappy American stuff we're used to, that much I can forsee without a doubt.

And by the time we get the current Euro Focus, European Ford itself will probably be rolling out an all-new Focus, considering the current one has been out in Europe for some time already.

But hey, they gotta start somewhere, and at least they are acknowledging the problem!

This is only partially due to the vehicle. The UAW is what's killing the largest part of the profitability.

I wonder how most of Ford CEO or Executitive go their job? We the American want the new Modeo not another piece of Ford Focus ok Mulally.

I would of got excited if he said they will bring the new Modeo over, but this? BORING................what waste of my freakin time.

US car companies treat the US consumer as a dumbed-down lot. Softer cars, electronic nannies, throttle with all the power in the 1st inch of travel to create the illusion of power, fake scoops, etc.

It's only a further insult that they assume we wouldn't pay more for a quality product they market overseas. Haven't we shown that we'll pay nearly $30K for a VW Golf of it has enough performance and looks? Is a standout Focus so much different?

I can't bring myself to trust even the newer better-looking US cars from Cadillac, Buick, and Ford. I've gotten to the point where I assume anything they can hide under the skin is penny-pinching, low quality, and old tech. Yes, I know the UAW costs are partially to blame, but I won't be lured into buying an expensive and sophisticated producty just because of some cornry rock and roll music.

I once was willing to give a Caddy SRX a try vs. a BMW X5. One creaky pull on the brand new SRX's door handle ended any further consideration of that choice...

...assuming Ford is still around in 2011.
