Does Toyota need more SUV, if so, then what is this one?
I just ran through this picture on an asian car website. This SUV looks bigger than the RAV4, but around the same size of a Highlander, with Camry facia.
Does anyone know anything about it?

WE DON'T NEED MORE SUV'S. People are still heading the wrong way on the perverbial one way street. We are eventually going to crash if we don't correct our heading. Think small and economical. It is a JDM to be released next month. I highly doubt that this one is for exporting. The name is Toyota Vanguard.

looks to me like a RAV4, with a camry front clip.

there's even the current rav4 as an inset photo. anyone able to read japanese? maybe this is the NEW rav4 for JDM.

I seem to remember that the US RAV4 is longer than the Japan RAV4. My guess is that it's the longer vesion with a different front end, for the Japanese market.

The US Rav-4 and Yaris are both bigger than the European versions.
There is also no 7 seat option or V-6 in Europe.

Has anyone actually tried to compare these pics instead of just blindly speculating? When compared with the US spec RAV4, it's obvious it is the regular RAV4 for outside the US. All the lines are the same except the hood and grill and the side view mirrors have turn signals in them. Also, there is some sort of plastic cladding around the wheel wells. Otherwise, its a match.

This is the Japanese version of the US-spec RAV4--longer, third row seat, and V6--with a different grille. It's called Vanguard.

Vanguard? To me it looks like a RAV4 with Camry headlights and an Avalon grille... now, that bumper, I dunno what the heck it came from...cool photo-chop.
