The New Toyota “ist” (Scion xD) is now out in Japan

Toyota unveiled this morning in Japan their New “ist” (Scion xA) which now look more like a hatchback crossover than the older version… Even if the Japanese version will still keep the “ist” name, the US version will be now named Scion xD, and will be available there pretty soon. No words for Europe so far.
This new “ist” will target manly men in their thirties who are looking for a compact but stylish car for men. Available with 2 different engines with either a 1.5l (CVT Gear Box) or a 1.8l (ECT Gear Box) engine, our new “ist” is, unlike a real crossover a 2FWD car. Toyota will anyway, propose in Japan a 4WD version of this is but only with a 1.5l Engine.

In overall we have been pleased with what we seen today, this news “ist” is following the trend that Toyota started with their Blade/Auris, by bringing cars with a dynamic style which far from what the Japanese Maker is used to build (i.e The Corolla)… We must also underline the great work made by the Design center of Toyota for the interior of this new “ist” and for its new dashboard.

Anyway, we will have to wait for a little while before we can get this car for a test drive and to see if this new “ist” is good as it look.
