BMW Trying To Win Over Chinese Customers After Scandals

GERMANY'S BMW has a reputation for producing cars that offer driving pleasure and luxury. But in recent years that reputation has been sullied in China, with BMW owners tagged nouveau riche and a series of scandals including a lottery fraud in the northwestern city of Xi’an and a fatal accident in northeastern Harbin making headlines in local newspapers.

Although BMW was cleared of responsibility in all cases, the brand’s image has taken a knock.

Christoph Stark, president and CEO of the Munich-based company’s China operations, says the carmaker is working on revitalising its brand in the world’s second biggest and fastest growing vehicle market.

And yes BMW should focus more on China. There is barely anymore space to expand in the US while the Chinese market is expanding.

It's amazing to me how many losers and 15 year olds blog on here. ANYWAYS, ABOUT THE ARTICLE......Yeah BMW really blew that one! I love their cars but they seem to pretty much have their tail between their legs on this one. Discounts of 14%? Hot damn. I wish mine would have been 14% off. They sure need to start kissing ass since they built a new state-of-the-art plant there that I'm sure they'd like to pay off. Do Mercedes or Audi have plants in China too? I'm curious.

Seems BMW is desperate in their attempts to gain ground in China.

They may lowr their prices so that their cars can be more affordable to the working class.

As if that will save the working class money once their cars goes electricals starts to fail.

BMW must be feeling the heat that Audi is blowing them in the dust on the Chinese market.

I read this article off of google a couple of days ago. The article states BMW auto company is cleared of responsiblity , the problems come the new wealth customers, and a lottery fraud. Look at all the people that draw conclusion without reading the Article. Plenty of pre judging BMW haters.

what i think is all brands like bmw,merc,lexus,audi have great cars and they compete with each other so to say that japanese cars can't compete with germans or german cars are unreliable infront of japanese cars have no meaning. ya individuals may have their own choices in terms brands but it is foolish to say that one brand is better than the other one in every catagory.
