Jaguar announces new Managing Director

Jaguar’s newly appointed Managing Director Mike O’Driscoll will have a tough task on his hands, having to juggle the carmaker’s turnaround and its split from Ford’s Premier Auto Group. Replacing the soon-to-be retired Bibiana Boerio, O’Driscoll will likely have to oversee Jaguar’s transition from the Blue Oval to its new owners, whoever that may be, and will also have to deal with several more years of Jaguar running at a loss.

O’Driscoll is currently the President of Jaguar Land Rover North America and has almost 30 years of experience with the British marques both in the UK and the US.

Maybe he will tell them to put the hood ornament back on the XJ. I remember reading an article in which she stated that her primary input was to provide insight into the American market. I'm not so sure she is doing very well.

This hood ornament thing really irks me. Jaguar already has a system that senses if the car is colliding with a passenger, simply hook up the hood ornament to retract when the pyrotechnic hood raising system is activated. Now, where it will go is predicated by the design and space available under the hood.

The fact that I have heard nothing of Rolls-Royce getting rid of the Spirit of Ecstasy leads me to believe that the above would fix the problem.
