It revs smoothly and silently all the way to the red line, and never loses its composure. This relaxed powerplant suits the 407’s grand touring aspirations. The Peugeot never pretends to be a sports car – so owners are unlikely to be disappointed by its limited pace in a straight line. However, overtakes must be planned carefully, and the standard auto is slow to respond. Fittingly, the Peugeot glides effortlessly over most road surfaces. Chassis composure is good on the whole, too – body roll isn’t an issue, and even when pushed hard, it takes a lot to provoke understeer. It’s just that, when driven energetically, the Peugeot can become ragged and start to lurch; bumpy roads upset the front-wheel-drive 407.

FWD cars suck. I am glad that Lexus are all RWD. At least Toyota FWD cars are the best in the world. I can live with that.

Really? Lexus's are ALL RWD or does the ES 350 just not count as a Lexus? I wouldn't want to count it either if I were Lexus.

Last time I checked the ES was a nicely dressed-up Camry. Or maybe Motortrend doens't know the difference between RWD and FWD.

STJ88, it sounds like you just hate the French. I give the French full marks for comfortable car seats and wish I would have bought the new Citroen DS I sat in for almost an hour in the dealer's showroom when French cars were sold in North America back in the sixties. This Peugeot (diesel version) goes on my shopping list as soon as Peugeot returns to North America. The other car I wish I would have bought in my younger days when I drove big American cars is the aluminum-bodied Panhard which would be a fairly large car by today's standards.

This one has been called by some reviewers as looking like a gay shark...too expensive, wrong badge, doesn't sell well.
