Diesel making a comeback in Japan

Diesels have long been the preferred choice of fuel across Europe, and, slowly, it’s starting to penetrate the US market, but, surprisingly, motorists in Japan have never really taken to the efficient fuel. Now, Nissan hopes to make inroads in its home market with the introduction of a diesel powered X-Trail SUV.

Expected to hit the market in the second half of next year, the new diesel X-Trail will be the first Japanese diesel passenger car sold locally since the 1990s. Mercedes-Benz has been the only carmaker to offer a diesel passenger car in Japan in recent times with its E320 CDI sedan but with Honda promising diesel models in ’09 and the Nissan arriving one year prior, Japan is about to enjoy a diesel renaissance.

diesels are better the hybrids. half the hybrids are just marketing and don't really acheive what's expected. im sure the only people screaming for hybrids are the diehard toyota/lexus autospies idiots.

The funny thing is most of the people making negative comments about diesels have never even driven one..Do they even know what a common rail diesel engine is? Do they even know who developed it? What does TDI stands for? Who developed the TDI, if you can't answer at least two of these questions, you don't know diddly squat about diesels..I Drive a landrover discovery 3 (lr3 for you north american folks).. as i have posted before..2.7 tdi with 328 pound/ft of torque, over 30 miles a gallon (combined cycle)..26 or 27 US gallon, recently got 850 km out of an 80L tank with 50 km left on the trip computer....compared to the shitty grand cherokee i drove in the US 17 mpg powerless like a mofo...I've owned 2 diesels to date, the field vehicles i use are diesels...some places I tread don't have fuel stations i'm afraid so we have to go for fuel efficient vehicles, that give u great milage and can haul ton loads of field gear...
