Let's hope neither.

I don't want Tata or Mahindra to buy them. Jaguar has been doing damage control on their image and that need not be complicated by their acquisition by an Indian firm that makes cheap cars.

I do not want Fiat to buy Jaguar- and the reasoning is pretty simple. Jaguar and Maserati, independent of recent history, are competitors in the sort of niche market they occupy. Their sales are similar, not exactly the same, at 20,000 units Jaguar sold a bit more than twice as many cars as Maserati did last year, so there are are some differences.

What I am really afraid of though is that Fiat will interfere with Jaguar's plans. The 2010 XJ has been pitched against the CLS the Quattroporte and the Flying Spur. Incidentally, I understand that those cars have vastly different price points- I am just writing what I have read. The point is, I don't want Fiat to interfere and if they do and I don't like the XJ, number two Maserati would get crossed off of the list as well. Thus, leaving me with the predicament of finding a suitable replacement.

I don't want Cerberus to for the same reasons as Tata and Mahindra.

On to One Equity- I don't want that intellectually sub-par troglodyte that goes by the name of Jacques Nasser to get his greasy smarmy fat little fingers on these car companies. It is Nasser's fault Jaguar is in the position it is in (and arguably Ford for that matter)

As far as the latter two- I really don't know much about them.

I would rather Jaguar be purchased by a company that is not a car company and knows little about cars simply because I don't want them to interfere.

I doubt Fiat would want Jaguar but Land Rover might be attractive as it's a high end market that they are not in with 4WD's.The 2 Indian firms have no experience in the high end luxury market and you would question the build quality of Jaguar.Cerberus just purchased Chrysler. On one hand do they really want to stretch themselves so thin with a high end make. On the other hand it gives them access to a market they could otherwise not crack. One Equity is Jac Nassar.Question was it really Nassars fault on Jaguar or was it jaguars fault. Under Ford ownership Jaguar went from becoming the unreliable luxury brand to becoming the most reliable in quality.Yes the X type was a mistake for using the old Mondeo chassis and it was a mistake for going with the retro styling. Perhaps with the right amount of cash behind it Jaguar can finally flourish with it's newer designs.I don't know about the other equity firm from TX.

FIAT would certainly benefit from Landie, they already build Defender CKDs. Hyundai already builds fat cat copies, my bet is also Cerberus. Has anyone ever seen a Tata or Mahindra car ? They are pitiful, 3rd world shitboxes. I just don't see the fit of Jag in India.

Cerberus has announced it is investing billions into Chrysler so I don't see a problem with this company buying Jaguar/Land Rover
