New TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz

New TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz
In 2004 Tag Heuer introduced the first SLR watch exclusively made for Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren car owners. Now Tag Heuer introduced a new TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz.

The new 2007 TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz comes in a limited edition of 3,500 pieces. The new edition of the Chronograph has captured some of the most distinctive design elements of the latest version of the SLR Dream Machine, the famous SLR 722 edition powered by a 650HP engine and reaching 337 km/h: the painted exposed black carbon front spoiler and palladium-grey wheels rim spider have inspired the titanium-carbide black tachymeter bezel, while the red SLR lettering and red-painted brake calipers are echoed by the red painted hands.

Like the SLR 722, the new TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes breathes more strength and pedigree than ever before.
The internal turning bezel is bi-directional, driven by a second crown at 9 o’clock that allows the driver to measure elapsed or remaining racing time. The exterior fixed bezel is finished in black fine-brushed titanium carbide with engraved tachymeter scale for calculating speeds.

43LE, if Lexus wants sell a watch in their showrooms I say go for it and I think a nice digital Seiko would be the prefect choice to match the clock in the LS-Series.

Let's hope this will help selling the SLR.

Dealers all over the place have MY06 demos...

The IS300 watch was cool....because it looked identical to the gauge pod, which was chronograph.

I must admit that I am a bit confused about the appeal of TAG Heuer in this instance. TAG, at least in my mind, does not make luxury watches. That is not to say that they do no make excellent timepieces, however, they to me are more rugged. I guess I am getting at that they are not really dress watches.

There are so many nice watch makers out there, and many more suitable to an SLR. In the company of watchmakers such as Ulysse Nardin, Audemars Piguet(although they can be a bit gaudy), and the absolute trump card of watches- Patek Philippe- TAG completely disappears.

I do understand that Mercedes is not going to put a $200,000 Patek Philippe inside of a $500,000 car- such does nothing to assist in sales. The point is that there are many watch makers which would in my mind fit the image that Mercedes is trying to project better than TAG.

Just so people don't think I am an absolute snob, I will admit that my everyday watch is a simple yet very nice Bedat.
