"The company is releasing four audio books...Each plot features a BMW auto." Granted this article is from last year, but this begs the question: who can judge when automotive marketing is clever vs too contrived?

what highway is that? You are still asleep. That is a moronic thing to say. I drive the highway in chicago 40 miles everyday to work and have not seen a BMW on the side of the road. Nor have I had any problems in the 6 BMW's that I have owned.

Of course it's okay for the Germans to market their products through special advertising ploys, but Lexus isn't allowed to try and sell cars without being "cheesy." Sounds to me more like jealousy at Lexus's superior marketing tactics...

where do you read jealousy in this conversation?

lexus does do good marketing (they should since they spend 4x more than mercedes or bmw). but they need to in order to sell rather boring cars.

mercedes and bmw do ok marketing. but they make great cars.

i'll take product over hype any day thank you.

O6Gs300 ... when BMW did the video's " The Hire " series is was about the performance of each BMW model and they tied it into a story that had action & drama into it ... Lexus puts on an orchestra showing off their sound system. Has nothing to do with the drive of the car. That would be a great idea if I was interested in a home theatre system, but in a car. Who is going to have the music load enough to where it matters? What sort of benefit does the concert promote?

this is just an extension to the WILDLY successful BMW films that were watched by tens of millions a few years ago.

i don't think audio will be nearly as sexy as films though..

What’s up with all that bs about Lexus this and BMW that, ya’ll need to cut out that shit, we all know that Lexus is the best luxury car and America they dominated the market for last 10 years, Lexus is the number one selling luxury car and America case close.

Luxury is now defined by how many cars you sell? By that rationale, GM is the best car manufacturer in the world, simply because they sell the most vehicles.

Stunningly brilliant logic.
