Porsche claims new GT2 will lap Nurburging in 7:32

The official brochure for Porsche’s new 997 GT2 was leaked last month, revealing most of the general details about the super-coupe as well as a few crucial tidbits that have been overlooked until now. As outlined in the brochure, Porsche’s claim for the GT2’s lap time of the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife is an amazingly low 7 minutes and 32 seconds.

To put that into perspective, this is the same time that the Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F supercars take to lap the famous circuit. The new GT2 would also leave cars like Ferrari’s F430 and 599 GTB, plus the AWD Lamborghini Gallardo eating its dust with more than a 10 second gap on all of them.

Porsche isn't exactly one to lie..it's known for usually understating the performance of its cars.

480hp 911 Turbo got beaten by 420hp R8 badly in many tracks, which makes me have some doubts on it.

The Turbo is a practically a pig next to the GT2.

Yes I would trust anything Porsche puts out regarding performance and lap times. They tend to be very conservative. When it comes to the ring they are the company that everyone sees as the standard to beat. How close to the Carrera GT is this time. It must be very close.

Waiting for a Lexus fanboy to say the ISF can do the ring in 7 minutes flat. Where are you, fanboys?

This Gt2 will be just smokin'

The LF-A will be faster than a Ferrari round the Nordshleife...right.

While I don't doubt the LF-A will be good (it seems good from videos etc), for it to be faster than a GT2...it would be impossible.

Too little too late Porsche.

Hyundai just claimed that the next Tiburon will lap the 'Ring in 6:59...

Will-Maybe the Tiburon might lap 1/2 the course in 6:59.As for the LF-A it must have rocket turbines up its ass. Porsche is the Gold Standard period.

Problem is that the average driver will barely do low 8 minutes because it takes some balls to moving that fast around the 'Ring.

I don't know about the LF-A and IS-F, but the new GT-R v-spec will be very fast.

Not as fast as this.
