Mazda RX-8 "Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary Edition"

Continuing the celebrations for the forty years of Mazda’s Rotary Engine Vehicles, the Japanese automaker announced the introduction of an ultra limited special edition of the RX-8 labeled as “Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary”. Based on the RX-8 Type S (six-speed manual transmission) and the Type E (six-speed automatic transmission) model grades, the “Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary” will be available exclusively in Marble White body color while the interior is covered in black leather and light silver Alcantara.

Apart from the special limited edition badgetry mounted on the side panels, the “Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary” also features an array of special equipment which include Bilstein dampers and a urethane foam-filled front suspension cross member and a special engine cover. The special edition RX-8 will be available in the Japanese market in only 200 units with prices for both the 6-speed manual and automatic versions set at 3,150,000 yen which is about $26,590 or 19,340 EUR

hoepfully with the 40th anniversary, they fix the standing issues the rx8 has had to live with.

the car is a dream tod rive and look at, but horrible gas mielage and reliability kills its market share.

Yes-When I owned my RX8 it had 4 recalls.It got about 215 miles to a tank of gas,the rear tailights became fogged,and the temp switched went bad.It handled well and once you got the revs up it performed but you had to down shift going up any steep incline.Although my Cooper S is FWD I like it much better.

Cooper S is such a fun car to drive, got my wife one a few months back, what a blast.

Can't stand the RX8, sometimes I think I like it, and then I give a closer look and realize it's ugly.

If I were in the market for a sports car I would be totally annoyed at Mazda for not bringing this model to North America.

one word...turbo.

as in "needs a ..."

The new RX-7 I'm hearing rumors about had better have a turbo or it will fail miserably. Nothing like underpreforming the vehicle your were supposed to succeed.
