Acura to add diesel in its lineup by 2010
Honda has no plans to introduce a hybrid variant for the next generation Honda Accord when it goes on sale next year. Instead it will replace the current hybrid with a clean diesel engine, the 2.2 liter i-CTDi. The Japanese auto maker is also working on a V6 diesel engine as well.

Now, according to Japanese newspaper, Nikkei, Honda is planning to integrate either one or both of those engines into its Acura lineup as well. Acura, which currently has no hybrids or diesels in its lineup, is struggling...

I agree. This is bad news. The Japanese are leaders in technology, not followers like the Germans. Acura planning the use of diesels is a major step back into the stoneage.

As I have said before, diesels are the future.

Acura needs a V8 first.
Without a V8, Acura is simply just a more expensive Honda.

So japanese are again following, copying and learning from the Germans. Kinda late, but better late than never.

Car? Too easy to refute that but:

Motorcycle: BMW, Ducati, Harley Davidson
HighTech: NASA, Ball Aerospace, Raytheon
Camera and Optics: Zeiss, Leica, Lest we not forget Phillips without whom, optical drives wouldn't exist.
Game: I still like clue but EA and Blizzard come to mind.
Audio: McIntosh, Audax, Hi-Vi, Morel, Vifa, Focal, German-Physiks (this list could go on forever)
Musical Instrument: Steinway, Stratocaster, Stradivarius
Robot: Boston Dynamics, Daft Punk....

Japan is competitive and in some cases better, sure. But certainly not absolute world leaders in the categories you mentioned by any stretch.

Germans might have started diesel technology but most of there products are no longer emission legal in the US, so if Honda which they will can pull this off it will lead to profit.
