Interestingly enough the day of sedan-based rally cars is ever presently going to five-door hatchbacks. Suzuki is developing a SX4 WRC car.

Well that's interesting, my wife likes the current SX4 because of its size, proper seat height and comfy seats. The only problem with it is that the seat material, even on the top model, is a bit tacky. As for Subaru, we test drove the 2008 Forester today but found the seat cushions a little bit too short and definitely too firm. The Forester is very easy to get in an out of without banging your head on the roof. The front passenger seat, which has no height adjustment, is at a very good fixed height because of the ground clearance and height of the vehicle. Viscous type LSD is OK but it would have been better to provide on or two Torsen differentials. The viscous fluid deteriorates over time and has to be replaced every few years. Last but not least, the full-size spare on the Forester is mounted on a steel rim instead of a matching alloy rim and, although it is in a proper wheel well inside the vehicle, its wheel well is not deep enough causing the rear cargo area to have floor with a little bulge in it -- that combined with the inability to fold flat the rear seats makes for an awkward look in the cargo area. Other than that, the 4-banger we drove was quiet even at highway speeds and had acceptable acceleration when the traffic light turned green. We did not drive the Impreza because leather is not an option on that vehicle.
