Is the next BMW 3-series a guaranteed winner?



Now that there are like a million photoshops, photos of camouflaged versions and artist renderings, if the car REALLY looks like that (it's pretty close) is it a guaranteed winner?

Or has BMW become too conservative with the car they should have taken the biggest gamble on?

When you look at it, are you dying to get one or has Infiniti just started looking better and better to you?

The 3 series is becoming less distinguished and less prestigious (it still has a cache but its less than it was) as a result sales will depend on value and performance. If BMW tries raising prices more than a couple of %, or decontents the vehicles, in the US then of course sales will plummet.

Also the X3 will take sales away.

In Europe the success will depend on the strength of diesel engines, and here BMW shines.

In summary great success in Europe, declining sales in US are my forecast for the new BMW 3 Series.

with the 5-7 series designs going the way of the TItanic the BMW (in general) is loosing its appeal very quickly... THAT and the competition from Audi, Infinity, MB... and even Cadillac

As a professional Product Designer for 30 years and as an owner of a 1998 M3, 2002 330CiC as well as a 2001 X5 3.0 I feel I can make the following statement with some creditibility on the subject. I love the looks of the older 3 series, really like the looks of the latest series and I honestly do not like the looks of any of the latest 7 and 5 series designs that have hit the market. The Z3 series looks fat plain and simple. From the looks of the pictures coming in on the web showing the new 3 series I will for sure keep what I have. The front end at this point looks too much like the new Audi model and the rear is much too plain with no relationship with the front. I'm very sorry but I am not impressed. There is nothing wrong with new looks and if this is better to some of the buyers then that's fine but if you are going to change a product design that has hit the top 10 for many years you better have a good evolutionary design concept or something new to make a statement that will knock your socks off and this does none of the above in my opinion.
