Now I would never buy a Hyundai because of my mother's bad experience with her 1988 Excel and that I can afford more but I will say this: the existing Tiburon is a very fast car for the money. A little refinement and this new one could be a serious competitor.

In the late 80's early 90's no one would have ever though Lexus, Infinity and Acura would even be considered in the same league a BMW and MB but it is happening. Hyundai is no different. A very well capitalized company that is finally focusing on R&D! Audi recently did it as well.

The only problem is, that's not what Hyundai is. They are mainstream, like Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. That's why those companies created a dedicated brand to compete in the luxury market.

I dont care if it looks like a G37 - a rip off is stupid as is anyhow. And unless someone has information saying otherwise (please show me if you do) this car will have FWD and a 170-200 HP I-4. It competes with the Celica. Not a 35-40 luxury coupe.

not sure how the g is that upscale, or infiniti for that matter. they make reasonable cars but just dont seem as prestigous, and not just that the altima coupe looks like its in the same class as the g coupe so i dont see why a hyundai couldnt compete with the g

M35MT,
You obviously haven't kept up with the latest motoring news. Hyundai is producing two new RWD cars within a year:
The new Genesis 4door, with either a V6 or V8, and
on the same chassis the new RWD coupe with similar V engines as the sedan. Both will be big sellers at the great price they will be introduced at.
