AutoSpies.com award winner-The best looking SUV under 60K

Tell us the truth...you thought for sure when you clicked here you would see us pick something like the BMW X5, right?

And the X5 certainly is one of the best looking SUV's out there. In fact, it's one of the few BMW's we still think is good looking.

But our choice is the new Chevy Equinox.

We think it's better looking than just about anything out there and in its competitive segment it's not even a contest (Escape, Liberty, etc.).

It also gives us insight into future GM trucks.

Look for the 2007 Escalade to have a distinct family resemblance, but even edgier.

Congratulations, GM!

I have been a fan of the Chevy Equinox for well over a year when I first started seeing pictures in car magazines. I am not the biggest fan of Chevys, but I know good design. Not only Chevy, but all General Motors divisions are making huge advancements in design, style, technology, and quality. What really impresses me is that they are doing so at better than competitive pricing. The Equinox is a smart and solid vehicle. I have test driven one and was impressed. The ride and quality was better than GM products I have driven in the past and better than all the competition in its class. The only problem I see is that too many people are brand snobs and think they can't stoop to the level of a domestic automobile. I applaud the Auto Spies for recognizing a great design and I look forward to the Equinox design theme being introduced on new models.

Ewwwwwwww!
The huge black plastic thing below the bumper is so horrible. The steering wheel doesn't match the interior and its so clumsy. If I won this car in a sweepstakes I would sell it immediately and get a better looking SUV.

You must have meant "under $30,000"
I disagree, but to each his own for under $30,000. Under $60,000 you are comparing apples to oranges. Fit, finish, quality of materials alone places vehicles like the Lexus GX470 and VW Touareg light years ahead of Chevy in the aesthetic category -- and that's nothing agaisnt the Equinox. Just can't compete (and not meant to).

The Equinox' exterior looks and proportions are fine for the times, but the interior is so GM -- nasty colors, layout and feel, which equates to cheap.

GM's family of cars are looking better, but they need to drive and feel even better to compete.

while the X5 is decent looking, the FX35/FX45 is a much better looking SUV than the Equinox. You must really be joking if you are considering this crooked box design to be the best design for under $60K.

Why don't you guys get a coffee, wake up and reevaluate!

Selecting this vehicle as "best looking" sounds more like a pledge of mediocrity to me.

This cant be true...auto spies I thought you guys knew better, cannot be under 60k. This vehicle to be honest is not ugly but it certainly is not the best...but it was a matter of opinion, but usually your opinion would not stir so much backlash, so it must mean that you guys are doing something wrong........
