2008 Nissan Maxima pricing announced

Nissan today announced the pricing of the 2008 Nissan Maxima which is now on sale nationwide. The 2008 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE Xtronic CVT starts at $28,120, while the 3.5 SL starts at $30,380.

I could not agree more. It is an unattractive car in looks and value. Nissan has significantly better product above(G35) and below(altima). Just save the steel and kill it.

This car gives the word bloated a new meaning. It doesn't know where it wants to be too overpriced, might as well sacrafice size and opt for the G. They should atleast make an optional engine along with the TL when this came out it was considered powerful, but 255 is weak now. Maybe it will redeem itself next year with a redo because I know the TL is coming hard just like it did in 04. Right now the Altima is the more logical choice.

S4 in many magazines the Maxima is compared to the TL, they are both upscale sedans just the Maxima is a Nissan and is not luxury and the interior is trash compared to the TL. Price wise they are the same though that is another reason why I don't get the logic of the Maxima.

The Max was an awesome choice back in 01 and 02, now, as we've all mentioned, it doesnt fit in. For 2 obvious reasons, the success of the G and the Altima have caused the Max's demise.

Maxima's in the 90's were awesome.

Nissan needs to offer the Maxima in AWD only and a bit more power(300HP minimum) .In the 30 grand price range other car makers are offering AWD-EG-Audi,Ford,Subaru,Volvo,Chrysler etc. In addition the Maxima is not that much larger then the Altima. It needs to be 6 inches longer and restyled.

Audi and Volvo have no competition for this. A4 is more upmarket, while S40 is slightly downmarket and S60 is a bit above A4 in size and price.

The max was THE compact sedan back in the day. Had manual versions of the first versions of the VQ engine, which as you can now see is very popular in all of Infiniti's cars and also the Altima sedan/coupe. Come to think of it, the 3.5 altima is pretty much the spiritual successor to the old Maxima.

When I bought a maxima in 1995 there was quite a difference between it and the altima.Now the 07's are both similar in looks,size and performance.The maxima has been getting suspensions and platforms from the altima for awhile now.Nissan needs to make a maxima in a way that you won't even consider buying an altima.

Yes! My sentiments exactly! How it is now, this car is useless. But Nissan needs to put some passion into this car. How about just making it (literally) a four-door 350Z, with only minor tweaks?

The Maxima is an over weight barge of a vehicle that only seats 4 people(only your high end makes do that and pull it off). It's a total departure from what the Maxima use to be. I hate to say it but the day of the Maxima has been over since the new body came out.
