OUCH! Chrysler Took a $6.1 Billion Dollar Hit for Warranty Work in 2006!
Among the challenges facing new Chrysler LLC CEO Bob Nardelli: big warranty costs that run far above the industry average.

DaimlerChrysler paid an eye-popping 4.8 billion euros, or $6.1 billion, in global warranty claims in 2006, according to regulatory filings.

Chrysler, whose vehicles consistently rank below industry average for quality, didn't account for all that, of course.

Building quality cars is just too big of a hurdle for Chrysler; they will probably resort to simply taking a harder stance with covering repairs under warranty.

You'll be hearing a lot more of "Oh, that noise is normal" and "Sorry, that's not covered" at the Chrysler dealerships.

Ford pulled that stunt on me so I stopped buying their product. The last two Grand Marquis I had were leased becasue of low lease rates in effect and to avoid warranty hassles. Now I'm done with Ford forever.

To the best of my knowledge Audi is only asking for the normal documentation required by any manufacturer.

Word to the wise on any brand keep the receipts, someday they may pay you back.

Not my leased Audi A6 Quattro which has the Canada only free sheduled maintenance program that came with the car. The dealer always fixed everything under warranty except for replacement tires which are not covered. I had to switch to Pirelli as Michelin no longer made the original tires installed on my 2004 model and, needless to say, I will never buy a Michelin tire again. They only lasted 40,000 kilometres. Audi qualitty today is exponentially better than what it was in the eighties and their fit and finish is unmatched at the price.

I hear that with Michelin, EnnNorak. After 3 tire failures and several low mile sets, I got out of pilot sports and never looked back.

I use Continentals on the S4. We had Michelins on the RX300 when we bought it (nine years ago, LOL, we don't have it any more), and they were terrible. Wore out very quickly.

LOL... that is how every story starts... "I know this Guy and he had a Yugo, and the engine just fell out leaving him stranded near a crack house with both of his kids in the car! And they said it wasn't under warranty! Can you believe it?"

Chrysler is what it is a dying company desperate for money and the "we don't fix that problem or it is normal for this to happen but not under warranty" has been a mainstay with them for years.
BTW, i see where instead of a makeover for the PT Crusier they are most likely going to drop it in about 2 yrs, that is par for the course with these clowns?
