New Audi zooms in with smaller engine
Audi is to add a car with a smaller engine to its A3 range.

The 1.4-litre capacity model uses the latest turbo charger technology and fuel injection equipment to delivering a 125PS output described by the firm as size-defying.

Specifications released by the company show that the car can get from zero mph to 62 mph in 9.6 seconds and it can reach 126 mph.

Here in the UK smaller Engines with decent Performance Hold their value much better as the demand for them is great. (Easier to insure for Youngsters and V Good Fuel Economy)

The Big Engined Vehicles usually loose over half its Value after the first 3 years.
For Example the 3.0 Petrol & Diesel BMW X5s are worth much more than the 4.4i Petrol X5 once they are on the Used Market.

houston- not every car is designed for the US

in China and Europe they look at the engine size. in china if the engine is under 2.0 there are huge tax savings

I think i saw a A8 with the V6 in china

This is the right way to go, smaller engines with more power and torque via supercharging and/or turbocharging. Couple that with direct injection and some intensive tweaking et voila: on a une voiture de façon économique.

What relevance is your Jeep to this car? Why even make that ridiculous, clutching-at-straws connection to try and de-value this car?

What I find sad is that Jeep's luxury flagship SUV has inferior technology and interior build quality than a small 'compact'.

The power output (approx 123 HP) from a 1.4L is impressive, but not "size-defying." Doesn't Honda pull 123.7 HP/L from their S2000 & without a turbo?

The A3 is a pretty decent car though.

VW/Audi's TSI technology creates decent performance and 20% better fuel economy. Still won't meet the economy of a diesel, but much closer.
