Spy Shots: 2008 Honda Accord interior undisguised

Not to mention, that looks nothing like the inside of a bimmer...it looks like the TSX.

Actually, the interior design looks retro honda. '92 - 95 Civic. BMW actually stole honda's design and ran with it, honda is just evolving its cars as they always have.

"Copy" is in the eye of the beholder. I see a whole auto industry trend in this direction and I don't care who started it. I'm still waiting for Honda to offer an Accord with RWD and LSD and a DOHC instead of SOHC engine.

43LE, the TSX interior is full of plasti-wood and certainly does not look high-quality... that car is utterly underwhelming. Its main competition, the Volvo S40 and Saab 9-3, don't fare much better.

They copy BMW cause BMW makes the best interiors. Right alongside Mercedes. They copy, but fail miserably. Just another POS Jap car with no prestige no heritage and no driving fun. I see poor sales.

The man is right. I am a huge Lexus fan, but at the time, I think Audi DOES make the best interiors. There are certain things that Lexus needs to learn from Audi, ie, ILLUMINATED WINDOW BUTTONS, ETC., and certain "personal" touches to make it look more tailored, and Lexus would be right up there with Audi.

But moving on, BMW does NOT make the best interiors. The only Benz interiors I like are of the S and CL.

Only BMW interior I remotely like is the 6er's.

'PUSH button start' is the worst. Many of these cars are devolving - tasks that before took 1, 2, or 3 steps, now take 5,6,7 steps. And by the way, it will really suc_ in 5 years when the 'push buttons' start breaking and the cars won't start.

My 328i cab has the push button start (I skipped the I-Drive and the nav) and you have to (1) put the rectangular plastic thing in the hole in the dash, (2) wiggle it sometimes to be sure its in correctly, (3) put your foot on the brake, (4) push the "start" button. This is versus - (1) insert key, (2) turn key until car starts - in those "old fashioned" cars. Why is this an advancement?

I love this Accord - it reminds me of one of my favorite all-time cars - my 1998 Accord Coupe. Ergonomics were great, room was great, and it was really avant-gard looking.

S4 I can give you 1 benefit the push button start has over the conventional ignition, it gives you the option of keyless entry & go. I don't believe you can have that option without an engine start button.

True. But I was just referring to the start button by itself, which many brands are adopting. It doesn't make sense.

in the world of design, try to not use the word "copy". the good invention is always good to be learned from others.

It doesn't look bad at all. The screen is better integrated than the BMW iDrive screen. It doesn't have tht odd bump above it and it looks like it would be extremely visable in sunlight. A problem with other systems.

Actually-This dash board style seems have been started by Infinity and now many of the Jap makers are following this dash board look. I'm not talking about every little button and knob.Rather I'm talking about the shape of the dash board. If you notice the new Subaru Imprezza/WRX has a similar shape where it droops down in the center.I beleive I've seen an interior shot of the new Mazda 6 with a similar dash. lets see if Mitsubishi signs on. Nissan will most likely change to this look with their next generation cars perhaps. How about a little individuality here.Pleeese.......

This dash is more like the RL lets not forget it was out before the M and has one of the best design layouts in the buisness.

This is a continuation of design language from the new Civic and Acura RL/MDX/RDX. It is not a copy of BMW's stuff.

ur right mercedes did copy bmw's lead with thier new s-class. however they didn't just copy it they perfected it. audi usually does make the best interiors in my opinion. however the s-class's interior is probably the best in any car. bar none.

I don't know... depends on the options. A base A8's interior is much better than S-Class's base interior; S-Class has cheap plastic panels on the doors. But if you get the full leather, S-Class is nicer. And then you get into electronics- A8's B&O system really completes the package. There's also designo and Audi Exclusive.

I do agree that the S perfected the 7's interior, though. Definitely. Much better.

Some hints of BMW and infiniti but the steering wheel looks old style battle star galactica to me as do some of the switch gear.

Overall it does not have the integrated and homogeneous design you see from european cars. And this means even low end european cars like VW, Seat, Citroen, Peugeot, etc.

Exactly, often times, other manufacturers take design cues (especially the interior) from honda/acura and people just forget where the original idea came from. No manufacturers got really serious about stereos until the Acura TL came out with a stellar one in '04. Also, nav systems didn't get a lot of attention in the user friendliness area until honda/acura nearly perfected theirs.

This just in, we were wrong, both Camary and Accord sales have taken a turn for the worst while Altima is now the best selling vehical on the planet!

The interior is ok, nothing special about it. I would still take a Camry over it.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Civic and Accord interiors both resemble BMW interiors. However, at least these Honda interiors have more of a luxury sense than BMW's...

WOW!! This is a great interior!! Looks like the interior from the top-of-the-line model. It seems to have dual climate control and auto a/c and a navi, etc.
I was in the market for a new car in the $30K range and I think this might be the one with all option boxes checked and a nice 270 hp V6 ... all for about $30K!! It will have safety, value, a great interior, fabulous features, space, technology (enngine, mechanicals) and for all that....this price (similar to a Toyota Camry XLE V6) of about $30K is just great.

I like what you said about Volvo, they do have the most ergonomic and personal interiors, but they arent the most striking design wise, my life savnigs are going to be used as the down payment on a S80, so I do like Volvo a lot as a whole. Also, Lexus does have the highest quality interiors my neighbors kid has a Lexus last-gen LS430 and it was the most well put-together interior I have ever been in, even a Maybach didnt feel that solid. I also want to clear the air a bit about Audi, their interiors have the best asthetic appeal and they are mostly well put together, but they do only edge out their competition by a small margin.

I agree. I think Audi does make interiors which have a very "Rich" feel and the materials are also very upmarket.... good, but, I dont think they are designed and I dont think the layout is as nice as some of their competitors. Its not aesthetic as say, a Lexus or a Volvo interior. Audi interiors are not "warm" places to be in....they have a cold logic to them....I find BMW to be in the same mould...but to a lesser degree. Lexus and Volvo, say, have a comfortable interior and yet, their materials are not that far off....and I think in the terms of the layout,etc. they have the Audi cars beaten at least in my book.

I love the A8's interior. It is the epitome of what an Audi interior should be: simple elegance. Perfectly-damped controls, acres of gorgeous wood offset by aluminum, a design that will never age. I think the A6's interior is too busy by comparison; it doesn't look "cold" in beige with light wood trim, but they should be using the A8's interior as a template for new cars, not the A6's. It's a shame that the Q7 and A5's interiors look just like the A6's, I guess. They're still attractive and beautifully finished, but it's not the same.

I'm willing to bet there'll be an LCD screen there whether you have the navigation system or not. Just like the Lexus GS.

Ha ha, on the last picture, they tried to disguise the 'H' logo on the steering wheel, but it was on the Navigation System. I find humor in that.

This interior is 10x better than Camry, Toyota and Nissan interiors are plain and plasticy maybe they are saving it for their luxury lines. "The world will never know".

If I am purchasing a new car by December and with an allocated budget of about $30K or less and I would like to keep that car during the normal warranty period...say 5 years, this would have to be on top of the list in the EX V6 form w/ Navi, Sunroof, everything, etc.

Given that all the cars have sort of re-priced themselves (The Fit goes to the bottom....$13K - $16K....the Civic from $14K - $20K, loaded), I expect this to start around $20K and top off around $30K and then, cars like the C Class and 3 Series are starting around $30K and going to $42K...so basically everything has gone slightly more expensive than before...a step up.
It will probably top out at about $30K & given the choices of cars there, this, as a EX V6 w/ all options is better than a base C Class or 3 Series at the same price IMHO.

I don't know... a base 328i would definitely be more satisfying than a loaded A4. You really don't need options on that car to enjoy it. On the other hand, you could get an A4 2.0T with a couple options if you stretched to $32K.

Just to add one more thing...It will be toss up between this and the 2008 Mazda 6 w/ a V6. Although I would have to go with the Accord, personally.

They have really taken their time on this car and to me that is not a bad thing. While all competitors have gone and done their redesigns and the Sonata is in fact being updated with a new and much needed interior and a new front look, Honda and Mazda have both kept their 2003 and 2002 models the same and are only now going and getting new ones...they took their time and I think when the details are released, we will see that this car has really good features, technology and comfort and the quality, reliability will also be fantastic. It will have some ground-breaking tech from more expensive cars, added to the options list, I think.

A Camry debut causes me little concern, engenders no excitement, but does demand attention. An Accord debut makes people talk. This doesn't just distinguish the two best-sellers, it distinguishes their potential buyers. The interior looks great. It's fine, it's good. Everything'll be ok. It's an Accord. www.goodcarbadcar.blogspot.com has tennis matches between Honda's and Volkswagen's. Weird? Yes. But cool.

Very nice interior for a car in this class, the interior is nicer than in some Bimmers & Lexus's. Audi's & Honda's/Acura's have some of the nicest interiors in the business.

Very nice! I'm impressed. A departure from the previous design, but in a good way. It still fits core Honda values, but you can see the high quality radiating from the buttons.

Thanks for the link Lexus Admirer you further proved my point. Why don't you post those pictures as a link and lets have a debate of which looks better. The 80's knobs for the climate control and the plain layout proves my theory. Just look at the seats people have always said Honda's interiors were better than Toyota's and it doesn't look like it's about to change.
S4cabriofoxone you need to lay off me everytime I post a comment your there, Audi sucs get over it and yes I think this interior looks better than an A4 or should I say Jetta. Audi might be premium in Europe but here they are overated, and yes they are cross shopped with Acura so get the idea that there not out of your head. No one buys Audi's A8 even if its nice, and interior and exterior wise people might knock the RL but the A6 is the same thing other than the grill everthing else screams "bland". The A4 interior is trash to that of the TL, what you get standard in the TL, the A4 can't even match optional.
PS are they still planning to lead the auto industry by 2015 if so they have along way to go.

I had a 1990 Acura Vigor and a 1995 Acura TL. When I bought my 2000 A6, I was amazed at what a huge step up it was. Let me give it to you this way:

Cadillac
Infiniti
Saab

And to be honest, there are only two brands really threatening to move up to the first tier right now: Cadillac and Infiniti. Acura isn't even in the running. There is absolutely nothing that excites me about those cars.

One question are you old enough to remember what a 90 Audi Quattro looked like inside? Tell me which one was better, stupid to compare a 2000 car to one in the 90's, what about a 2000 RL even then the layout was smooth, first to debut navigation in 96. Audi cars were the definition of bland in the 90's atleast Acura had the Legend/Coupe which was one of the best looking cars on the road, ageless classic, loved how the Coupes rear windows completly rolled all the way down, companies like BMW still don't do that today, making the rear passangers feel like they are going to sufficate from lack of air.
Fitting how you put your Tier brands in order ask someone else and their opinions would be defferent.
Your right Acura might not be a Tier 1 brand, for many reasons, but their goal is to steal perspective buyers from Audi looser's like yourself. Best bang for your money and their reputation for realiability is unmatched.

Look, the only reason I "rag" on you is because you constantly shout about other brands "copying" Acura. It doesn't happen. Acura does not make desirable vehicles. Acuras aren't faster, more luxurious, better-looking or just any nicer than their rivals. I see NO reason to buy one, unless you can't afford anything else.

And- just to make sure you know. I love Honda. I bought my daughter a 2003 Civic EX coupe four years ago, which unfortunately has been tuned by my son now that he has inherited it.

But Acura is not deserved of its Honda parent. Let's compare Acura cars to their Lexus rivals:

Acura TSX vs. Lexus IS

TSX has a 200hp engine. The IS's base engine is more powerful than that, let alone the IS350. The IS is also significantly nicer on the inside, it looks better, has better handling, has an AWD option, isn't a re-badged Euro Honda Accord and is just better in every respect.

TL vs. ES350

TL is down on power and luxury. And now that I think of it, while the TL has never been an offensive-looking car, the current model is just as boring as its predecessors. But the new ES has taken a step forward- high style for this car. It's also more powerful, and I see no reason to get the Acura over it.

RL vs. GS350

GS is more luxurious, better-looking (RL is much too bland), faster, less-expensive, and has more than one drivetrain option. It also looks pretty amazing in that pearl white color.

MDX vs. RX/GX

This is the one Acura that is actually class-competitive. The new RDX drives very well, but it doesn't offer the style of the RX350 or the versatility of the GX470. However, I would put it on my list if I were looking for a mid-sized SUV.

Congrads on comparing past generation cars to current one's. The RL interior is better than the GS, and the Type S Tl is faster than the ES. It will be the ES that is useless when the new TL comes out, shit even the new Accord will have more horsepower.

Acura is known for offering the most bang for the buck. When the RL came out, it beat everyone in a Motor Trend then a C & D comparo except the then new Infiniti M45 (V-8) The TL beat everyone in similar comparos except the G35. At that time the TL was the fastest car in the comparo/class. I have never seen a comparo where the TL lost to the A4, that includes the last two generations of the TL. I like most of the cars in that class, but after test driving everything in the $30K - $36K class in 2005, the TL by far offered the most bang for the buck. Let's just see what the next generation TL and RL have in store. The current ones are old now and its not fair to compare the companies when one has all old models at the moment. As I stated before, when the '04 TL came out, everyone jumped on the high-end car stereo bandwagon, the same with navigation when the RL came out with it in '96 and when it got better with the current TL. Let us not forget who was first to market with "Real-time traffic" navigation (the RL)
