Mercedes GLK planned for Detroit Show

Mercedes still lacks a compact SUV model in its lineup despite the segment experiencing some of the highest levels of growth of any vehicle segment in recent years. A consumer shift towards more fuel efficient models has spurred carmakers like Mercedes to launch smaller off-roaders but according to its US product chief Bernhard Glasser, the GLK won’t be launched until 2008 in Europe and 2009 for the States.
