Is the new 3-series brochure for real?

When one of our readers put an early Christmas present in our email box (the next 3-series brochure)the first thing that went through my mind was- Is it real?

It was too good.

And you know...when something is too good, well you know the rest.

The Slovenian version?

Hmmm...that protects all the US people.

No contact from BMW asking us to take it down...that's odd.

It was almost as if they WANTED to leak it.

Could it be they wanted an early reaction to make SURE, it's not another design fiasco?

Or, in the words of our friend Helmut Panke, maybe it's their way of 'getting us ready' for it.

Mr. Panke (BMW's big Kahuna) said they wanted to do a better job of that in the future.

So what are we to make from all this?

We do know based on our contacts that it IS the real car.

You must be kidding!.This "new" BMW 3-- looks like a sub-compact Korean/Japanese s----box from the rear. Start over again, BMW.

Jeez, just when you think that Jaguar lost whatever credibility it might have left with the Taurus Type, BMW basically puts its name on the same derivative piece of crap. I'm sure it's a performer but, oofah, is it a sore sight for eyes! Yuck, at any price.

BMW has been very careful with the design of the new 3, and rightfully so, they would have a major insurrection if it looked like the 5. It moves in the direction of the 5, 6 & 7, but doesn't go nearly as far. I'll reserve judgement (just as I did with the other BMW's) until I can see one on the road.

ps--I like the 7 from the C-pillar forward, the 6 looks expensive but not beautiful and the 5 is not a good looking car. That said, they are all bold, forward thinking and artfully designed. But not beautiful--bw
