Nissan GT-R to make appereance at LA Auto Show

you know I am excited about the GTR, but Im not about the price. I wish nissan would put out a powerhouse under 40k. Maybe they could take the base z and add a turbo or something. I just dont see a wide market for the GTR at 80k.

It's gonna be called the 370Z, that's what you're looking for around that price.

$80k is somewhat of a steal, considering buying a U.S. modified GTR, from Motorex, will still run you about the same price; The used R34s can easily break $100k, and the parts aren't as readily available as they will be with the new GTR.

ronnsscooby, this probably won't be more than $70K. But it would be horribly un-profitable for Nissan to price this car at $45K or less; Porsche gets away with $130K on the 911 Turbo, which has the same performance. It's just not feasible. $70K is a bargain in itself.

This will be a great car, and well worth a price tag above $40K. $70K sounds reasonable, considering the cars this will compete with. This is almost the Japanese version of the Corvette, considering the cars the Corvette Z06 can hang with.

Since this car looks a lot like a Mustang, how does to perform up against the Saleen Mustang?

Does this new model feature the famous atessa 4WD system ?

What im getting at is that this cars performance specs are impressive,but its still not a porsche. Its est. performance specs barely edge out an evo or wrx sti. Now granted its a much better looking car than those two, I think it should have been built to be in that bracket since the 350z fell so short on performance.

I'm glad it's not a Porsche, or else it would look like a beetle or some other bug.
As long as it smokes the 911 on the Ring you can keep repeating that Porsche got smoked by Nissan like it did back in the 90s.

EL34 the GTR is 1 sec faster to 60mph than the saleen,and 1.5 sec faster in 1/4 mile than the saleen. I cant remember the exact skidpad numbers , but Im sure they are way higher too.

i dont get it, do people not want a car that competes with the 911 turbo but for less than half the price because its japanese? needless to say, im booking my flight to LA...

with that mindset the evo x and wrx sti compete with the 911 turbo for 35k

Problem with the GTR is that its worldwide following is not in Porsche's target demographic. And the majority of people who can easily (and I stress easily) afford a $140k porcshe won't be in the market for a $70k Nissan. Regardless of the performance.

At $70k, Nissan expects to take share away from the M3 and RS4 buyers with the bang for your buck proposition.

The GTR has a lot of fan's, so i don't think nissan will have a hard time selling them.

I just think the better looking 350z should have a turbo version priced around 40k. I think there is a much larger demographic willing to purchase that.

nissan offers in japan the nismo fairlady z 380rs, 350hp 3.8L VQ with everything the US nismo z gets. its just that the US wont get the 3.8L engine. but i dont care, the gtr will be so much more. not even the japan/UK sti spec c will stand a chance or nsx type s zero.

the sti will be 35k less than the gtr and real close in performance

No the STI won't even be close to the GTR it never was en will never be.

Est. Gtr 0-60 3.8 sec. -- Est. sti 4.2 sec

Est Gtr 1/4 m 12.4 sec -- Est. sti 1/4 m 12.7 sec

Im not saying the gtr wont be faster, but its not going to be that much faster to pay an additional 35k

But you would pay 45K more for a 911 Turbo that performs just as good as the GTR???

The GTR isn't some quickfrills 4WD rice rocket....it's a practical AWD road & track star. The additional $35k is well compensated for.

I agree that the porsche is way overpriced , I like the gtr ,but I think the market for it is very small.most people that can afford the porsche will buy it. I think they should have built the gtr in the 40k range to make it available to a wider range of people.

The GT-R will probably be an epic machine. I wonder about the experience will be like. The car's intangible figures on paper are awesome but from the pictures I do not lust for it the way certain cars do.
