The best car in the wrold, right behind the 7-Series! No POS Audi or Lexus should even bother trying to compete.

With the LS600h out now, the A8 and S class have to fight for 2nd and 3rd place now and leave first place to the best car, the Lexus.

Hey buddy, don't be like some of the lexus dudes talking crap. It makes it that much more interesting when other companies compete.

What they should do with this car is take it to Laguna Seca and perform some burnouts with (c)rap being played in the background.

That other company did it so they can catch up to 30 years of automobile engineering from BMW.

"Thaat other company" did what they did to give an exclusive preview of a highly-anticipated car to their loyal customers. The video was put together by an individual, not the company.

The company in question put together a team of dedicated and enthusiastic engineers to produce a compact performance sedan as a separate project all in itself.

What an ignorant, but typical comment from you about Infiniti and BMW being the only brands that produce "enthusiast cars." Where is the brand supposed to start?

Lots of great cars don't have sticks-only anymore, including Ferrari.

There are about 5 people left in the world that want a fully-automatic transmission, and they all have memberships to this site. It doesn't take a manual to make a performance car.

It's pretty obvious that Lexus has put more focus on making more luxury-oriented vehicles than performance ones, so I don't see why "Wi11" needs to try and rub that in people's face. I thought the topic here was about the new M3, but I guess it expectedly shifted focus to the IS-F, the very first serious performance car from the brand, not the rest of their line-up.

My first car had a 5-speed manual transmission, and that was back in the mid-'80s. In fact, Mercedes stopped offering manuals on later-model years due to lack of sales.

A manual's fine for people who want to squeeze as much fuel economy out of their car as possible, but aside from that I don't see the necessity.

There are alot of us on this site that enjoy luxury cars of a higher caliber than the boy-racer, manual soapboxes that you speak of. Cars such as the E-/S-Class and GS/LS do not sell well, or even bother to offer manual transmissions.

As I've already stated, there is so much tecnological advance in the automotive world concerning transmissions that manuals will continue to decline. BMW doesn't even sell as many manual 3-Serie as they do automatics.

As if the repetitive, monotonous phrase "real car guys," followed by a list of more cars you think I have no interest in isn't "pompous?" Or your old and tired remarks on my current car aren't "pompous." What a joke you are, mini-me. Just for your own personal fun, I'd choose a DB9 or CL63 AMG (with automatics) over all those cars.

You mean manuals, and no I didn't say they were totally irrelevant, for clearly you worship manuals. However, I am only stating fact when I say that more people prefer automatics, and that manuals are not a prerequisite for all performance cars.

I guess having a manual transmission in your mind gives you another bullet point as to why you can feel superior to everyone around you. "I know how to shift, you don't. Ha Ha!" How immature.

1) the SMG gearbox in the M5 is rubbish
2) AMG always had automatics, way before anybody else. It is part of their Autobahn stormer philosophy. Lexus doesn't has that.

Yes, I agree with you from a technical point of view.

BUT

Nothing can offer you the same driving involvement as a proper manual transmission. Clicking some paddles or pushing some buttons just doesn't do it for me. In a BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, .. etc I will ALWAYS order a manual transmission.

The M3 is no doubt a great car, but for the money I would still take the 335i.

I would go for the Lexus IS-F. Nothing compares to it.

What do you mean, "for the money?" This is $20K more than the 335i. I mean, you COULD put the Vishnu kit on the 335i and it will be able to (barely) keep up with the M3, but it's not the same. I prefer the 335i's looks, but the M3's performance.

I would stick with the E46 M3...

this isnt a review; its a press release by a bmw professional driver whom is also responsible for product management.

whats funny is that this article seems to be a rebuttal to the spreading rumors that the new m3 just isnt a spectacular or involving car for daily driving which is reason he invites drivers "to test it on the track to see its capabilities which transfer to safety on the road..." yet which drivers are unable to feel.

Who cares about the Audi A8? How many cars did they sell last month in the US, all 201? Also, The Audi A8 has not easily defeated the 7-series in most comparison tests. The Audi won in 2004, but it was slower, didnt handle as well, was smaller, didnt stop as well ... The BMW blew the Audi off the road in the numbers, but they didnt really care for the Idrive ( which wasnt that good then in 2004 ). January 2007 again the BMW was faster, stopped better was more responsive ... They just dont like the idrive and that is the sole reason the audi wins ... If they just went on driving , BMW wins
