This exclusive automobile—only 604 will be available—pays homage to the timeless classics shown at Pebble Beach. The exterior color is a new iridescent Black Diamond Mica and the wheels are finished in chrome and graphite accents. Even the headlight housings are finished in black. The interior is trimmed in Pimento red leather and accented with black Bird’s Eye Maple and red scuff plate illumination. Special Pebble Beach badging highlights the front fenders, the center console and the floor mats. Each SC Pebble Beach Edition comes with a complimentary black leather Tumi tri-fold garment bag. The Pebble Beach SC comes with a Mark Levinson® nine-speaker, seven-channel, DSP-amplified audio system and a Lexus DVD Navigation system, which acknowledges the advanced technology in this future classic from Lexus.

You can't tell whether it's coming or going, both the front and rear end look like a bloated fish. The interior lacks charisma, the iffy colour scheme trying to make up for the interior designers lack of imagination. Aimed squarely at the American market. If you put that thing in a main street of Modena or Paris, it probably wouldn't be well recieved.
An SL is elegant without trying too hard, more timeless. Lexus tries to hard. And fails.

A few years ago there was a new SL500 parked beside an SC430, I commented to the guys I was with, "Hey look, beauty and the beast". It was really shocking to see the svelte, beautifully styled SL next to the bloated, frumpy, ugly-duckling SC. I mean really, other than people who own them, no one can honestly call the Lexus beautiful (and owners are only justifying their purchase). The SC is an unbelievably bad car design, bad, bad, bad.
On the other hand, it is beautifully finished and utterly reliable. The Benz is well finished and astonishingly unreliable!
If ever Lexus can figure out good car design (that mutant new show car coupe and thick, clumsy GS aren't the answers) and better chassis tuning they will crush the Euro-trash.
