Wiesmann’s M5 V10 powered GT confirmed for Frankfurt

Wiesmann is confirmed to present its new GT MF 5 coupe at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the first major update for the model since its introduction almost two years ago. Despite its retro styling, there’s nothing old fashioned about the car’s new powerplant. Residing under its long hood will be the same 507hp (373kW) V10 found in the potent M5 and M6 models from BMW.

Weighing just 1,250kg, a Wiesmann GT packing the 5.0L V10 engine would offer a significant leap in performance compared with the 362hp (270kW) currently available.

ive loved this car ever since it came out, i think are stunning inside and out, very classic, but also a modern look and feel. would love to have one, and the m5 engine just makes me want one that much more

Germany's idea of what a British sports car ought to be and I think they're right... If only it wasnt for the fact that I like my German sports cars to look German...

Interesting. Reminds me of the Spyker project: high-po German engine, retro looks and a fantasy interior. I don't know if I like these types of cars... I'd just rather take an M6. Maybe even a Fisker?

Fisker doesn't use BMW engines; they use the entire car. They also use the Mercedes-Benz SL.

BTW, the F1 wasn't a re-bodied BMW like these other cars. It was an all-out supercar project, that just happened to be using a BMW engine.

It just happened to be designed for that car. That M Powered V12 is amazing...BMW's engines are no joke or fluke by any means...more mass produced automobile engine awards than any company since the beginning of modern time.
