Video: Hear the sounds of the 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG
Okay it’s really 6 minutes and 30 seconds, but the more the merrier. The last Mercedes C63 AMG video seen online had some horrible techno music over it, but this time we got to hear the beautiful sounds of the new BMW M3 competitor.

The 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG is powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that produces 451 horsepower with a torque of 443 lb-ft. The car has the ability to do 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. The design is just brilliant.

C63. CLS may look better, but C63 will give you a lot more fun at the end of the day, and it's a great-looking car in itself.

C63 without any question. Sure the 55K engine is great fun and so is the AMG Speedshift 5-speed gearbox but the C63 does everything better and it's even louder!

I tried to submit an article with this movie a week ago or so and it didn't pass... now it does?

Other than that it sounds spectacular. But wait for it untill you hear it in real life.

Don't try and tell me that this looks less fussy that the IS-F......

The IS-F looks like a sleek killer-shark compared to this C63. The C63 looks good - don't get me wrong - but the IS-F has a more harmonious design, that's for sure.

It looks much better, sounds much better and will def. perform better then the lex. MB AMG has been the king in straightline performance, but most recently improved their handling tremendously, shall I say to BMW standards.....

PS: Regarding the ISF - Those vertical exhaust pipes just cry, "look at me, I'm not just a rebadged toyota, I'm special".

kablaam says, "and will def. perform better then the lex."

Kalimba says, "Fully agree." and then later says, "In fairness, your Lexus friends are the ones making bogus claims about the IS-F."

Kalimba, I think it is safe to say that you have zero integrity.

You reading this Kalimba guy?

Agreed Hyundai. 450 horsepower out of 6.3 is low tech. The Lexus IS-F engine is more superior and better engineered. The fact that Lexus can extract so much power out of such small displacement says a lot about TRD's capabilities. AMG is a low tech company tuning for a low tech luxury company. You can't really expect much from them.

Audi is making 450hp out of the 4.2 in the updated B7 RS4...

But I know why the "6.3L" is there. They could've gotten that power out of a smaller engine, but I find it interesting. It fits in with the Mercedes mystique.

The only reason why Audi is making 420 hp out of their V8 is because

1) they sold Cosworth
2) quit turbocharging
3) high-revving concept just like M-division has

The 3.7/4.2 Audi V8 is a stunning powerplant with great reliability and a sporty character. The RS4 has probably one of the best high-revving V8s in its class. Until the M3 came. But it's a very close match. I drove the M3 yesterday and I was amazed by the engine. I always considered the RS4 to be supersmooth revving but the M3 is in a different league. Just amazing. And there is still some grunt left in that engine that will be used for the CSL.

But I'll talk about it some other time. Now I'm tired.

"The RS4 has probably one of the best high-revving V8s in its class."

Until the M3 came, it had the ONLY high-revving V8 in its class, making it the best by default.

I doubt the difference between M3 V8 and RS4 V8 is dramatic. RS4's engine has been likened to the best of this century.

To add- I haven't quite read the same praise for the M3. The new BMW is undoubtedly a very competent machine, but with Audi and Mercedes-Benz fast approaching, it has to be more than that.

RS4, M3 or C63 AMG.. it's just a matter of personal taste. IS-F, CTS-V, .. are newcomers without any history to back up their claims. So we will just have to wait and see.

But if it were my money I would buy the C63 AMG.

The torque curve is very important as well with the smaller displcement the torque curve will not be flat.

And that may be exactly what I do.

I am looking forward to the comparison tests. All four of the main competitors in this segment pose such a threat to each other that it's ridiculous. The RS4/RS5 and C63 AMG are the best performance cars to come out of their respective manufacturers in years, and BMW, of course, has produced another excellent M3. Now it's down to Lexus: can they make a good performance sedan?

sounds like spitfire roar. This exhaust note is usually used by the british car farms (jaguar xk, aston martin db9), this is very much unlike the previous mercedes roars of like the clk63 amg. Lookwise i think this is the second best car after M3, but i also can not rule out RS4 and IS F out of the spot of glory. But well done Merc.

It does sound a bit Spitfire-ish but that's not a bad thing. Old AMG V8s had a completely different sound but that's because they weren't high-revving.

Nice comment, I'm going to boost you for that.

Currently, one of the nicest sounding exhaust notes is on the AM V8 Vantage. There is nothing like the spitfire sound of that car's exhaust.

Does anybody remember Top Gear's review of the V8 Vantage? JC said that you could hear it from 2 miles away. They drove it nearly that distance, and in the video, you could hear it... pretty cool if you ask me.
