Theives use sleeping gas to steal Lamborghini

Two car thieves got more than they bargained for when the Lamborghini Gallardo they’d stolen from the east coast of Italy turned out to be equipped with the latest LoJack vehicle recovery system. The tracking device uses radio frequency technology to help pinpoint the location of stolen vehicles. The French owner of the Lamborghini was on holiday in Italy when the thieves raided his home at dawn and used sleeping gas to incapacitate him before stealing the keys to the supercar.

The police should set up special cars as bait to catch car thieves with some sort of sleep or mild nerve gas released once the thief gets behind the wheel and starts to drive away. Too bad the law does not allow these bait vehicles to be loaded with explosives to be detonated inside the chop shop where stolen vehicles are usually headed. Scarce police resources should be used more to stop car theft rather than waste time stopping competent drivers with safe vehicles from exceeding some arbitrary speed limit.
